I'm hoping to make it to the Show Down on the 16th and touring around in my 34. Got it back from the Chop Shop Friday and we are working hard to meet the deadlines so we can make the show. This car hasn't been on the road since 1972. I hope to crisen her at Latamore. Today we got a small block and a trans mocked up while my buddy Ricky builds the motor. My carbs have been on the shelf for a few years as all my parts have on the anticipation of bringing it all together. If the radiator man doesn't hold me up I should be there. My wife and Buster have given the approval.
Great looking coupe. Good luck on making the deadline. Less than 3 wks. now! Remember, it won't quite be finished 'till it has some Latimore mud on it.
My bro Ricky has the engine it will be built by Friday. Wiring is in, I mocked up the engine and trans I hope to have it running no later than Sunday. We will work out the bugs and driving next week if all goes well. I just clear coated the body just incase of rain. It stops and steers if it starts all systems are go and I'm Jalopy Bound!!! Pray to the HOT ROD GODS FOR THE BLESSING THAT IS NEEDED TO MAKE THE SHOW!!!!!!!!!
We fired the 34 up Friday night we pulled an all nighter not sleeping at all. Ricky took a cat nat in the old barbers chair about 8am. I took a shower and a power nap about 6:45am and had to run a car show at my armory the next day. We fired up the small block about 3am in the morning in the middle of town. Ricky came back later that day to ****on things up. Hope to test drive it this week and work out the bugs. Money is tight I hope I have enough to make the show. I'm spending into my reserve and my wife has beach trip plans. The guy in the gl***es is my best friend and barber he was up till 3am and my uncle bob was there as well and our mascott "Buster" my Boston Terrier he likes hanging with the boys. I included a few pictures of my car show as well. I hope to make the ShowDown.
I pulled it out today to clean it up and get some better shots of it. Of course this 34 will evolve overtime, I'm just doing what I can with what I got. I fell pretty lucky to own it. I'm the only guy in town building one that isn't fibergl*** and I'm not making it look like and Easter Egg.
Looks really good. What is your rear tire size. 750x16? Also, Can I get a close up shot of your door hinges. I like that look.
Rear tires are 850X15 I wasn't sure about the hinges. Warren came up with the idea but they grew on me, the doors where a little weak and the gussetts strengthened them up. I'm having some trouble with the carbs I think I have to much fuel pressure because fuel is dumping out everywhere. I'm ordering a pressure regulator this week to eleviate the problem. Working out the bugs buts it's coming together pretty fast.
you have done a tremendous job bringing this 34 coupe back to life! That is what hotrodding is all about.
The 34 HILL JACK HOT ROD pulled on it's own power today for the first time in 40 yrs or more. I pulled it off the trailer into the exhaust shop, it has already got alot of attention around town because, most people haven't seen anything like it around here. The guy at the exhaust shop just stood there looking at it trying figure heads or tails of the whole thing. I know they liked it I got alot of thumbs up.
You are going to have a great looking hotrod... Double check that everything is tight and that you have good brakes and steering and get that thing to the show... It is cool when you work hard and finally are able to drive YOUR hotrod.....
Looks great man, excellent job bringing her back. Keep it up, I wanna see it at the showdown! We going through the same showdown thrash with this T... <embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i56.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid56.photobucket.com/albums/g184/thunderbirdesq/VID00072.flv"> See you there! (?)
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!! We made it to the show Friday morning about 3am and started the party at the Showdown. The guys pulled out the moonshine, guitars and the banjo and cominst the ceremony: we didn't stop untill I p***ed out the next night around 10pm. She made it around the track 4 times without a hitch. Got a little Latimore mud on her with a big smile on my face. Even got an award from Spike the photographer of the show as his personal pick. (Thanks Spike!) I got a little carried away and took it through the creek and pissed Scary Larry off but, you will have that when your having to much fun. I apoligized and moved on throughout the evening. Hope I seen you there I met some great people. See you next year!!!!
