Hi all. Could someone give me an idea what a fair offer for this would be? It's a 56 Bel-air 4dr 6cyl 3spd with 28,000 orig mi. Thanks Lippy
Hard to say without seeing everything. Being a 4-door, I think $9-10K would be the absolute max if it is pristine throughout and all original. If it needs any work at all, you can go down from there.
That 28,000 original miles sounds good. One owner always inside? Has to be worth $2,500. at the very least. Personally I'd flip it on eBay to max out the profit.
Things are worth different prices in different parts of the country.I wouldn't give over 1500-2000 for it if it runs good.Looks solid, but its a 4 door.
There's one close to me for sale at $3800. It's been on C-list for about three weeks...for what it's worth
Can't handle a real car, huh? Being a tri-5, that nice, even though it's a four door, it has very low mileage I would say $8-$10k around here...my best guess...
If I recall, the odometer on those only went to 99,999 then back to 0. It could easily be a clean, well maintained 128,000 car. 4 doors, and a stick six, puts it at the bottom of the desirability list, even though it is the Bel Air. If you want it because you love it and want to keep it, I offer no more that $7,500. If you are looking at it to flip, $4,000 max.
Before the slap about it being a Chevy, I'd also say $2500... If I was selling, I'd 4k-5k...6, maybe? If I was buying, depends on who owns it? Are they ready to sell just to see it be driven, or looking to score a couple bucks because they've got a "cl***ic"... how partial are you to your money? start low...offer $1500... If your confident, the owner knows what they've got and your not looking to offend them by low-ballin'...2k-$2,500...It may be lower than what they've got in mind, but atleast they're likely to come back with a counter-offer...
I called and they told me the typical story, they have been offered $6,000. Whether they have or not don't know. I was going to buy it to clean it up and re-sell. I already have a line on a 55 2dr sedan Bel-air for me. If it's orig 28000 mi, won't be hard to tell by the ***le. They claim it is. I can't tell by the pics, is that rust on the rocker and front fender, can anyone blow it up and tell? You Ford guys crack me up. Lippy
I'd take a deep breath and wait a week... if they still have the car, make the offer you're comfortable with. If they managed to sell the car for $6K, then congratulations to them I'd go $3500 if it's fairly rust free, beyond that you'll have more trouble covering your costs on resale, especially in this economy. Just my opinion.
Thanks Electro, I was thinking the same. six is pretty high. I'm gonna p*** I think and buy some more dragster stuff.
This one up here in Abilene is around that price. Been for sale for a couple years. http://wichita.craigslist.org/cto/1123297503.html
That would be a great daily driver, room for the kid and everything. I bet the gas mileage would be good too, as long as you didnt try to rap out the 6'er at every shift.
4 Doors are great for driving... not so much for a quick flip for profit unless you steal it. I love my 4 door Fairlane and will never part with it, but I also know (and accept) that I would never recoup what I have put into it
Always worries me when people wet down a car and then take pictures. I'd want to see it in person. I'd tell them to take the 6K.
I agree...why wouldn't they have taken the 6k? Seems a winner to me if I were selling... Good luck to 'em.
Exactly. It sounds like they've spent too much time hanging around used car lots. When people pull that **** on me, or they say,"there's someone else coming to look at it", I just smile and say "Good luck with that, have a nice day", and I walk away. If they use the most common used car lines, then what else are they lying about?
this women at work thinks her husbands 4 door 57 is worth more than a 2 door, why because it has more doors,i just laughted and walk away
