Call Books A Million and ask if they have a soft cover book called Custom Auto Interiors by Don Taylor and Ron Mangus. The publisher is Fisher Books (www.FISHERBOOKS.com) and the ISBN number is 1-55561-140-0. This book covers how- tos on all types of interior designs, and includes many pictures of each process. All the work covered is done on H.A.M.B. friendly vehicles, but some may be a little too street rod oriented. You can still get some good ideas from the text that can be applied to any vehicle. They even install a seamless headliner in a '41 Willys...Kinda like trying to upholster the inside of an egg.
Or once again just search HERE, the largest repository of hotrod info on the web. Hit the search tab, type in , "interior" The truth is outh there.
I got my wife to oil the machine and fill the bobbins, then I got some leather and started whacking; http://www.wholesale-fabric-discount-store.com/mall/White_LeVante.htm
I looked every where for original made seat covers for my 1960 Belair 4 door sedan Police Car that I'm building. No problem with a sedan 2 dr, but no one I contacted had originals for a one piece bench seat. Cars, Inc advised that they were going to make them about August, but just for the seat covers was going to cost a little over $800.00. I contacted automotiveinteriors.com. They sent me samples for about $6.00. I designed my own seatcovers, headliner, windlace & sunvisor materials from the samples. I also bought a seat foam/burlap type repair kit to replace the bad foam. Goes right over the springs. This kit comes with hog rings, hog ring pliers. seat foam and burlap material. I bought front and rear seat covers, headliner, sunvisor material, windlace and seat repair kit. With shipping, it was $725.00. Prices depend on what material is used, type of seats, headliners, etc. Get the number off of the website and get your samples coming or order from the website. I highly recommend this company. They are top notch and very helpfull with all questions. Ask for Diane, tell her Tim Phillips from Huntington, WV told you to call. I know mine are great!
