  1. Hey there.. I guess i have to introduce myself to make the admin happy so here goes.. I joined hamb because i'm starting my first hot rod project soon and needed as much info and help as i could get.. i've always loved old cars and hot rods and always wanted to build one so i decided to quit making excuses and just do it.. I credit my dad for making me a car nut.. All of the amazing stories he would tell me about him and his friends and family always involved a car, from blowing the doors off his friends formula firebird in a 61 caddy(pop beat the guy so bad that he had time to get out of the caddy, light a smoke and lean on the hood before the guy got there), to his awesome story about his $15 '50 chevy two door.. well i'm introduced i guess so thanks all.

  6. ok you wanted to hear another cool story here it is.. i'll elaborate on his $15 dollar chevy two door.

My uncle had this rodded out 50 chevy two door.. had a built 283, all the go fast goodies of the sixties available.. any way he blew the motor up in it to the point of no saving it and sold the rest of the car to my dad for fifteen bucks.. well it just so happened a friend of his had a chevy straight six he said he would let my dad have.... If he could get it.. see the engine was 16 feet in the air in a hay loft in the barn.. no one remembered how they got it up there.. so with all the redneck illinois farm-boy ingenuity my pops could muster he built a bunch of A frames and used various ***alongs and pulleys and got the damn thing down, cleaned up the points, threw some new plugs in it, got some junk yard motor mounts and voila! $15 dollar bad *** Chevy.. crazy stuff.. if you enjoyed it let me know.. i'll prod the old man for some more stories

Thanks for the follow up. I love to hear stories from the "old days" from people who actually lived it. Maybe you could start a thread for stories from the past as told by my dad. I think all of the HAMB members probably know at least one or two stories from a relative. Thanks again and welcome.

It's good to have you, welcome from Wisconsin!

  9. well i tried to make a suggestion in the suggestion forum about that and some of the "senior members" were taken aback that i would dare make a suggestion of the sort.. i'm noticing a pattern thus far on here.. everyone i've conversed with that joined pre 03 on here seem to be elitist ***holes.. As if being on this forum for a longer period of time somehow makes them feel important..

  10. heres a thought , slow your roll for a few and get the feeling of the place before you start shootin off your mouth about long time members , your acceptance is not automatic and most times not easily earned..

  11. thus far they have shot they're mouths off first.. but i'm new here so i'm just supposed to take it right.. think about this.. all the new guys on here will eventually be the old ones on here so the now senior members should try to be a little more directive and set an example for people don't you think.. anyways it's just one that's been kind of a jerk so i guess there's always got to be an *** right... I understand what you mean by acceptance though.. i just didn't really think a forum about hot rods would have to be so political... just have to play the game though i guess.. a big thanks to all who welcomed me warmly and i'll try to hold my tongue in the future..... but it's hard to hold your tongue and pull a ****** at the same time :)

hey newbie, it's me, you know, the ***.

you made your suggestion and a moderator shut you down. i then suggested a way to make your story telling posts stand out. i then stated a simple fact, the hamb won't be adding additional forums(at least not for something so trivial). they are hard to moderate and guard against spammers. that's when you took on your little boy everyone's out to get me at***ude.
i then suggested you start a social group. even the moderators liked the idea. just trying to help you out. can i make another suggestion?

    go **** yourself

  15. alright found a social group for this sort of thing.. thanks guys.. didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers.. and rick i didn't mean to pick a fight, but the specific history of any culture one claims to belong to is no trivial matter.. as well as loving hot-rods and cars of all kinds i am also an avid history buff and one interlacing commonality between all long lasting and successful cultures is a rich oral tradition(yes i said oral, insert pun here).
Stories p***ed down for generations about what was accomplished, why it was done, who did it, etc., stand to educate those new to the culture and endear them with a sense of reverance for those that came before them.. otherwise we'll have a bunch of kids stuffing flatheads in whatever and painting it flat black "because it's cool" which i'm sure is already occuring
again i appologize for upseting anyone. i'll try not to in the future..
