I just picked up this old drag car. It's a 1936 Riley and I'm pretty sure the front fenders aren't 1936 Riley. Anyone recognize them? While on the subject, I'm betting the rear fenders aren't correct either....

My money is on them being 32 Ford fenders, looks like they were trimed a little on the front frame area. the bead on the front fenders looks 32 the backs don't show an edge that would have come on any 1930 type ford , they almost look like MG rears.............

Thanks. That's two votes for 32 Ford. How about the rears?

The tail lights look just like the ones on my old 52 mg td. Since the car isn't around anymore I can't compare the fenders, but I certainly remember the tail lights.

  5. Rears look like '35-'37 Ford Pickup with a little added to the inside to meet the body.
Put me down on the '32 front list.

Didn't MG rears have a peak down the center?

I'm with the other guys on that or mybe a wippet, but because it has a 32 grill I would think they are 32 fenders, the rears could be original and the tub section is in fact the part that has been changed because most of the english sports cars around that era flowed down to the rear, they could also posibly be off of a TF or TD MG, I can't quiet make out the tail lights but they look like they may very well have come from the Morris Garage (MG) stock. Bear in mind there was a lot of sharing between Morris and Austin which later became BMC (Britsh Motors Corporation) but even in the early days before the 2 amalgimated they shared equipment like engines and lights etc.

Anyway good luck with tracking it down.

Funny, I just looked at the ad in the cl***ifieds and wanted to ask the same question. I wonder how much is really Riley, the front axle looks like MG-TC, tail lights are MG-TD. Rear fenders could be early 1930's MG also. Riley had a really nice upswept ch***is from the cowl forward. Could you post a ch***is photo?

Unclescooby, the rear fenders don't look like 35 ford truck, I'm working on one right now
and they don't even look close.

I'd guess those front fenders to be 31-32ish Chevy. Definitely not 32 Ford.

Got all the history on the old Riley today and met some really nice folks. In the process I made a deal for one of it's old engines, a 235 chevy with 3x2's. The previous owner said those are Riley fenders and a Riley grill? he said he has the hood ornament that fits that grill too. He had a bunch of neat other stuff that will be landing here soon too. That's the kind of stuff that makes this hobby really fun.
