As many of you know, back in the fall, I took the chevy out for a spin to show a local college student the fun of hotrodding. About 2 minutes into the ride I layed into the gas real hard and all hell broke loose. Well, I learned a valuable lesson, Speedway hairpin mounts dont hold up to 600+ hp., and ALWAYS check other peoples welds before you take a car out for a good thrashing. My myspace has the video. Enjoy.
What you are forgetting to tell us is how you took it home 2 minutes after the video stops and had it fixed before 10 minutes had p***ed since it broke. Nah jk thats a bummer but you can fix it super quick and much stouter, I have witnessed the miracles of your work here on the HAMB.-Weeks
that's some scary ****. on the upside, at least it happened before it was painted. Hope you came up with a stronger rear suspension setup
that sux, but even broke on the side of the road that think looks wicked cool! doesnt look like it hurt too much
That had to be scary, any damage? Is it just me or are there more and more speedway parts failures lately. This incident another thread on a broken spring hanger, and a few weeks ago i came across a thread about a broken speedway pitman arm. To many problems to quick for me. No more speedway parts on my list.
I have a twisted in the middle driveshaft from Speedway motors with less than 1/2 block on it. and no refund!!!
Its funny you would say that.It was really an easy fix. We put it on the trailor at about 2 pm, and I was driving it the following day, all repaired, and 10 times as strong.
Dude that is scary looking. I've got to tell ya though, your myspace page is inspirational. Big Man upstairs is looking out for you.
Looked pretty exciting there for a minute or two, its a bummer when stuff breaks though, been stuck at the side of the road myself more than once with broken bits and it ****s!
That is why 600hp cars don't come cheap. The rest of the car needs to be up to handling more power and torque than the motor can make. The motor needs to be the weakest link, not the rest of the car. I am sure you understand that, but a lot of big power motor nuts don't.
Heres a thought I had the other day, MATCH RACE BETWEEN YOUR SIBSTER AND PURPLE PEOPLE EATER AT THE HAMB DRAGS?-Weeks
******, at least it happened to one of the most capable HAMBers there are, d still be on the side of the road crying for my mommy! Doc.
And then Jim says "here kid, hold the video camera and watch this". I guess that is one way to make sure everything is up to snuff before really getting out on the road. The car looks wicked even sitting with the axle askew.
No beer, just a handfull of horsepower spinning backwards @ about 40 miles an hour into the local basball field parking lot.
