22 months . . . 2100 hours -- including more than a little help from my friends . . . less than $20K out of pocket, plus $2K in donated parts and material.

I always figured I had about $4500 in my '32 2dr not counting labor. You have to understand I collected most of the parts a long time ago when they weren't worth anything compared to today's prices.

    I resemble that remark........... [IMG]

I have MORE MONEY in my engine than I gave for my car........1932 roadster. The engine is a newer addition and the 32 has been in the picture for 25 years. I gave $250 (1980) for the 25 vent hood and thought I paid WAY to much but it was the nicest one I ever saw. Roadster dash....$100, frame from a 42,000 mile original 4 door....$400. Winter front grille........$300 at Hershey (late 70's) . But that was a good bit of money at the time....... [IMG]

Edit: I guess my answer was pretty sensitive and girly. I should probably just say it cost around fifteen grand just in case I decide to sell it someday. [IMG]

Finished in 1998 (15 month build time)...17,000 in receipts. The ONLY paid labor was for block and cylinder head machine work. The rest done at home with a little help from family and friends.

Some of you guys oughtta be working for the Government...trying to trim down the National Budget...some cool rides for five grand around here!

My heap started out as a free car, and after one $50 seized engine, a free good engine and trans, free radiator, free wheels and tires, battery and brake booster/pedal ***embly...I've somehow spent over $1300 on "little stuff"...and still not even CLOSE to going for that first ride!

(All it's really good for is starting up and annoying the neighbors...but I've done that for YEARS without spending a cent!!!)

This is a bad picture of what it looks like right now! [IMG]

I got about $1900 in this with A LOT of junkyarding. Most of the cash is in brakes, ball-joints and misc. The big stuff was cheap!

I've got over $15,000.00 in my '57 Chevy. I didn't think I was a "goldchainer". I'm just about ready to sell it to finance some new projects.

  29. $6500 and my dad gave me the rebuilt 351. Still needs alot of work to drive, but I'm trying to do it right and not "roach" it together.
