Hi, sorry for the lack of communications, been getting a few enquiries about my manifolds and thought I should give you all an update.
No I haven’t given it all away and crawled under a rock ;-) although the thought had passed through my mind.
Story to date: lets build a manifold
    Lets machine a manifold
    Lets sell a few
Then reality hits, need a get a mil, need to get more space for the mill, need to get three phase power to make the mill go round.
Lets sell the house and get a bigger workshop.
So in the worst housing market since the great depression we put the house on the market, that is after spending every spare hour painting and decorating to get it up to market standard. Get grief about all the things finally getting done now that we are going to move.
After an intensive marketing period (real-estate agent talk for selling your house) we became realistic vendors and allowed the market to dictate the price (more real-estate talk for selling at auction in a depressed market) Sold the place and are moving to a smaller house with a bigger workshop in the country.
The down side of all this has been my inability to keep everything moving forward. Focus on getting the house prepared has diverted me away from the manifolds.
The up side will be my ability to be more flexible in the hours I can work on manifolds and get them moving again. Plus I will have a better workshop for my projects. Got three goats to keep the grass down I can make more noise.
Anyway we move on the 29th of May and I’m looking forward to getting back into it.
    Cheers
    Peter

  2. Thanx for the update Pete - Im still interested in a blower intake for my 330 - see your email/PMs.

Good luck with the move !

    Rat my man,

Yeah back into the manifolds. :) Feels like a life time ago but finally got the mill bolted down, wired and working. Been doing the first manifold in the mill, but taking it slow as I’m getting to understand the mill. So far so good and I’m very happy with the results.
    <O:p
Got a couple of photos to show you guys. The first is the mill setup in what was a cowshed. The property has the old cowshed converted to an office area, workshop and paint booth. Attached to the cowshed is a 12 x 7.5 metre workshop.
    <O:p
The next photos are the first manifold in the mill and the manifold ready for the next machining process.
    <O:p
Going to do the thermostat mount surface next. This is the machining I had to shop out as it would not fit in the other mill. Now with the horizontal arbour I can do this.
    <O:p
Better get out there and get it done
    <O:p
    Cheers

Peter, I've been following this thread and was wondering if you have product?

Have you done any testing to prove the design? If so, how did it stack up against the currently available intake manifolds? We just finished up a 330 Desoto build and I'd love to see that engine with a manifold that works well.

    Look forward to hearing more...
    Cheers.

You can see the first manifolds running on youtube. Just type in desoto hemi and you'll see it runn along with some dyno runs. Bill

Peter's intake manifolds DO work. I had a customer come by at Carlisle (name excapes me....sorry) that had nothing but praise. He mentioned that the intake seemed to make much better power with the 2x4 top than with the single 4bbl.

Thats the intention. Got a guy over here that is giving me a price on spinning new tubes. they are 6mm deeper than the stock but machining will allow the stock tubes to fit

Thanks Tom, Let me know if you get that name and I will contact the guy. looking foeward to talking to someone with road milage to give a drivability report.
The dyno results show an improvement but seat of the pants tells it all

Wow just been reading, or drooling over the Desoto hemi build thread. Would love to see my manifold on your engine. Will have one ready in a few weeks. Got a couple on order that I need to supply first. Let me know when you need a manifold and I will see what I can do
The testing was done with my rebuilt motor on a Dyno. Haven’t tested against other than a stock 4 barrel manifold so I’m unable to do any comparison to other manifolds available. I don’t intend to get into a mine is better than yours augment with anyone, best option is to let the market speak

Any new news on the manifolds? I picked up two 330's yesterday so may be interested as well.

Please include me in your PMing, as I still need a manifold for my 330 DeSoto Tall Deck. Preferably, I would love the six carb (three by three) set up, but, I am also interested in anything else.:)

    Hi Hot Rod Michelle,
Just starting to get on top of a bit of a backlog on manifolds so will keep you posted on progress. Haven’t got that 6x2 top built, long story but that’s life. Don’t know what will get here first the 6x2 top or a low block manifold. Yes I do a 3x2 top plate.
Thanks for the patience, planning on ramping up the process now.
    Cheers

    Hi,
What I tend to do is take an enquiry and drop them a PM and go from there. I have been a little preoccupied of late but managed to get 4 out the door the other week and I’m planning on ramping production up.
I tend to offer manifold to those asking and if I have extra manifolds I will list them on ebay
    Cheers

Hi have a look at the thread Rat has started about his cam and blower manifold. Got some excellent photos of the manifold on his Hemi.

For those waiting for an update I’ve been working in Wellington ( the capital city of good old NZ) its Friday afternoon and I’m just about to jump into a rental and drive up to Palmerton North Will stay the night there and go see the foundry Saturday morning, got 4 manifolds to pick up and we are going to have a long hard look at the casting process with a view to ramping up production.
Going to drop past the pattern maker, he know I’m coming and want to talk through the low deck manifold options.
Should get Home about 8pm Saturday night with 4 fresh castings to start machining.
If I get any decent photos from the foundry /I will post them next week.
    Cheers

Hi Peter, I,m the guy that spoke to Tom at Carlise about the manifold with the 2X4, the driveabilty and performance are great. It's good with 1X4 but it's better with 2X4. Over the winter I am going to install the top with the 3X2 and I will see which one is best.
