So I started to rip in to my motor and came across some weird shit. 1 There is a good amount of carbon build up on top of the pistons and heads 2 One of the pistons are not like the others and it has small holes that to me looks like a bad cast with some weird scoring. No scoring in the cylinder walls. This piston was cleaner but a little greasy and the valves had this same weird gunkey buildup and all the rest were dry carbon buildup 3 the oil smelt a little gassy and seemed thin. The engine sat for about 3 years but ran fine before it sat. No smoke or stuttering. The guy I bought the car from said it had been rebuilt 8 years ago. Everything else looks good except for these issues listed. Here is a pic of it. Thanks for your help Chris
Looks like steam erosion. A leaking head gasket can allow a bit of coolant in the cylinder, causing pitting like that. Or it could have got some water in that hole when it sat for a while, that'll do it too.
