Hi, I've got an engineer friend make up some radius rods for me ( 1" solid rod, threaded ends, 2 tubes 5" apart at axle running down to one tube where it meets the frame ). Where I live it is hard to get the bushed rod ends or clevis fork type ends, but I can get some high quality heim joints. Are these OK in this application, I was thinking of putting washers either side of them to stop the joint popping out. Theres been a few threads on this before, they will be 5/8" thread and hole. Thanks, Craig.
i would like to know too i have other options but this would be easier as i can get heim joints with grease ******s they are 5/8 or bigger and used for tractors 3 point hitches so i know they are strong
Just be sure to use the heavy washers larger than the outside end opening which enclose the central bearing ball and you'll be fine.
I see your in Auckland, go and see Lance at Freelance Automotive as there may be Certification issues with using washers to hold suspension parts together. He'll put you straight.
