Fuzzy has another photos of it in his collection. And there is a card in front of the car... but I cant read the info on it.
Yes you are a 100% right! There is a big difference in the different types of rear glass for a 51 mercury.
i thought you would agree about that 51 rear window, when done right ( wich is VERY rare) they lay like butter on toast on a 51 merc. The rear quarters are just made for the shape of that 51 window.A 49 & 50 have that round ass end and the round window fits them perfect. Ya what happened? I thought you were posting up some more pics!! Any more from that show it was in like in your avatar pic?
Yes i agree the 51 glass looks the best in a chopped 51 but only if it is placed correctly and not chopped to much. This is the bitch built about 20 years ago, sorry for the poor quailty of pic but this is what i have left
You threw us off, we were expecting you know what type of cars. Some of these cars are really clean and well designed. Working chopped convertible, pretty bad a##s.
how the hell can you be wrong ? he looks like George and have that stupid lookin jacket ! ... need glasses ?
From the Jim Roten Photo Collection... (most have been seen before in other post.) Gene Winfield Merc Zupan Joe Bailon
Wow ! is that a 51 merc with an hardtopped roof grafted ! look siiiiick ! I remember seing that one time in an old mag, probably the same car if it's really a 51 merc ! please more pics !
The Rodders Journal had a two page feature on some old color photos of the Buster Litton some time ago. (issue 36) Issue 36 also happens to be a digital issue on the TRJ website. So I was able to take the Color photos from the digital document... And at least now we can take a look at the side view of the car without the annoying spread center. These black and white photos where posted on the hamb a long time ago... but fit here very well...
I always liked this car. I rode in it the morning Bill Abate finished it in June of 86. The current paint is rediculous. Its supposed to be garnet maroon.
yes we definitly agree with the paint. But it has a nice chop layout eddie the owner hangs out at our shop now he lives here in socal. He wants to sell it and have us build him a convert. But the economy is so bad he would have to give it away.
Does he have pics of it in red? The guy who built it is the same guy, Bill Abate who bought John D Agostinos Royal Empress, the purple 56 Lincoln Lincoln that Winfield painted. After Abate sold it to some guy in Kearny N.J. who owned a junkyard, the guy painted it.
So spill the beans! Enlighten us that are here in the dark. Is '49-'50 the same 2dr and 4dr? (Besides the 3 piece.)
staying with the locals. This 1957 Ford was on the Milwaukee, Wi. streets, 1960. The chopped Merc with the extended quarters was on the Milwaukee, Wi. streets, 1959. Both cars have faded into the past.
