I'm so so tired of the ass-rods everywhere I look! I quit buying every magazine on the shelf, same shit over and over. I'm pretty down the the whole hot rod scene lately. You did this one a huge justice.... Will you paint it, maybe put an interior in it????

Kevin looking at your front spring perch every thing looks flat, how much caster do you have in the front axle, it's not going to handle good unless you have 6 to 8 degrees, just trying to help.................:D

Yes it will be painted and have interior. It's still under construction. As I said in a earlier post, the bed cover is already made, and the seat and door panels will be next. I've had some offers, but if I keep it it will be finished.

  5. Interesting front suspension. I'm sure the lightning holes in the gussets will help the unsprung weight... :)

I applaud your use of a car radiator shell......there is NOTHING traditional about tractor parts on hot rods.

Saving cars like this will be the "barn finds" of the next 5 years. Finding, and fixing all the haphazard bullshit that keeps getting created under the guise of being a hot rod....

I applaud you, very nicely done.

  7. Looking good, keep it until you finish it and get to enjoy driving it....what color are you going to paint it?

Thanks for the help. It will end up with 7-8 degrees of caster. I'm still working on the mounts for the wishbones.

Gloss black body with maroon interior, bed cover, and wheels. White firewall and gold engine & suspension parts. Some classy looking pinstripes. What do you think?

    Later,
    Kevin

Here's what I've collected so far for front brakes. I plan on using the backing plates that I have with 2" Ford brake shoes. I'm not sure how all this works... Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

  12. Lookin good now! Refine it and maby add some safety. Will you need a pan bar on that front end?
But way cool is that intake! Did I see right? Is this a single converted to a multiple carb set up? How they do that? I'd like to try that myself - got a couple of extra stock intakes. That intake is quite a conversation piece - how does it run?

I don't think I'll need a panhard bar, but I'm not sure? The intake is a stock intake that had 2 more risers welded on it back in the fifties. My dad said he remembers alot of guys doing this on racecars. They work fine. It gets alot of attention.

I'm impressed that you were able to see the potential in the original heap. That's an impressive before and after.

  17. Kevin - That is awesome - now! I wasn't digging the grill but now I see you weren't either. Maybe I need to bring you my '31 to finish (?) Looking good man.

Lookin' good Kevin, great transformation. I'm really diggin the Buick / Wide 5 conversion. I've always like the looks of the wide 5 wheels/brakes front the front, the look of the buicks from the back are gonna look great.

The headers are perfect. Did you build them? Are you gonna run mufflers?
