I think there might be some confusion. The Hill Country Street Rods used to do an event in May every year. They've been hosting it for years. Well, the track has a new owner and the club and the owner were not able to come to an agreement to make it happen this year. Sux because I hear that the track is in good shape again and I was looking forward to running. Hopefully, the club can heve it again next year whether it be at Little River or elsewhere.

I paid a nostalgia visit to Little River Dragway ten years ago and it was exactly the same as it was in 1962! They were even using the same ticket booth.

The left turn at the end of the strip was sometimes hard to negotiate for the faster cars. We raced a 1962 Chevrolet 409/409 Impala at several dragstrips in central and north Texas in 1962-64 and the LH turn at Little River Dragway got our attention.

Is it still 1/4 mile or did the cars get too fast and they had to convert it to 1/8 mile?

At the Day of the Drags, they let the us run 1/4. Same thing when they had teh Hill Country Street Rod event. Most of the events there are 1/8 mile for the exact reason you mentioned. Of all the tracks going to 1/8, Little River has the best reason! Even at 108 mph, the left turn keeps it interesting all the way to the turnoff!

The track has changed a little in the last couple of years. The walkway over the track is gone and I heard they took down the wood grandstands on the pit side. I suppose they'll put up new stands of some kind, but I"m not sure. The area go hit with a tornado last year and the lost a few huge trees, but there is still plenty of shade on both sides.

The more I think about this, the more bummed I am to not be going racing with all of the guys that race in May every year.

The first time I went to the river , the shutdown still connected to the highway . So as I was coming in I was faced with two cars coming at me! I wish it was still a full quarter. I'll be there.
