This is what happens when a Packard Clipper has an **** *** love child with a Hudson hornet. I need a time out to reflect........... Yep-still looks bad!
Good thing he did not list in Hemmings Motor News. They have a rule that you cannot use the term CANCER for rust. I think this came from the late managner who died of cancer. He said cars get rust people and animals get cancer. It is a slow painful death.SORRY for the rant Thank You... Bobby..
It dosen't even look like a true section job. It looks like they cut the lower 4 inches off the car. Anyway it still looks like a clown shoe. Billy
I don't think I've ever seen a car that looked good sectioned. This sure isn't changing my mind. The chop looks kinda lame as well.
[ QUOTE ] "Many parts of the chopping have only been roughed out" And I mean ROUGH! ba-dump-bump [/ QUOTE ] HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA thats good, thanks!
wow, looks like someone saw monster garage and said "hey,i can section this thing!"..ruined a nice car..couldnt they have just tried to shave the door handles?by the looks of the job they did sectioning that thing,i think it woulda taken em longer to do a shave!yeah,i know how you feel..my car's been mistaken for a Hudson, too! creepy
After seeing you are a HAMB'r, I will edit my post and simply say that practice makes perfect, and that gas hammer welding and shaping the sections before welding in would help you a lot on the next project.
[ QUOTE ] STOP CRITICIZING MY WORK!!! [/ QUOTE ] so you think we should lie and say it looks good?I don´t know you,and yore probably a really nice guy,and I don´t want to make people think I´m an a-hole,but this car does look bad to many of us here, sorry.
Aren't you glad that he has Spent Ten grand on it? Imagine how bad it would be if he did it on the cheap.
[ QUOTE ] STOP CRITICIZING MY WORK!!! [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] hey im jay the s***, im 19 AND IM A CRAZY MOFUKA!!! i got a 54 merc with a 390 fe engine. yeah old cars are cool i guess yeah they are. -AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE RULES and they better not cancel it [/ QUOTE ] so your 19 years old and living in new jersey and you claim its your work, and the car is located now in california if it by all odds is you whom have had an hand in this buildup, you should be able to take criticism, maybe you don't appriate honesty from people? if people think somehing ****s and is ugly isn't it better that it get's through then people **** *** and say something is coool when its not?
uh, um...guys....i'm pretty sure merc-o-madness has entered his post in jest...he didn't really build that ugly *** merc...JEEZ!!!
I have sectioned a 51 & a 50 Merc, and what I see is that the guy cut it in the wrong place. I have always made the cut above the rear quarters. In my opinion a mid century Merc looks good sectioned if done correctly. Another thing, why do ppl think you need to cut up a perfectly good Merc frame to put a ****ing camaro stub under it? DAVE
[ QUOTE ] why do ppl think you need to cut up a perfectly good Merc frame to put a ****ing camaro stub under it? [/ QUOTE ] It probably fell apart when they cut out what was left of the rotted out floor.
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] why do ppl think you need to cut up a perfectly good Merc frame to put a ****ing camaro stub under it? [/ QUOTE ] It probably fell apart when they cut out what was left of the rotted out floor. [/ QUOTE ] If that were the case it would be on a mid 70's midsize GM frame and floor. I think it would save if it was lowered, (the weight of an engine might do that in front anyway) and some lakes pipes and all the wheel openings radiused late '50s early sixties sporty-car custom style. Maybe with a '56 Olds grill bar for a bumper like the Jack Stewart car. It ain't dead till it's crushed, so weld 2"- 4" back in!
[ QUOTE ] why do ppl think you need to cut up a perfectly good Merc frame to put a ****ing camaro stub under it? [/ QUOTE ] Because it came with that steering wheel!!! ~Scott
I'm gonna be sick. back in the day these were called bondo buckets I just haven't seen one in this bad of shape in a couple of decades
