Once again, I turn to the HAMB for the help I need (I love this place). We (the Throttlers of SLC) are starting '33-'34 Ford Roadster project for a high-profile individual. We have collected most of the hard to find parts already, but we still have to come across a body and frame! He doesn't want reproductions, he wants an original. The guy has the money. Can any of you guys out there help a fellow HAMBer out?

Thanks for any and all help!!

I know where there is a roadster frame. It's all original, but does have split wishbones though. On a 1-10 scale it's prolly a 6 or 7. It's in PA. If your interested PM me and I'll put you in touch with the guy.

Hey, don't get your panties in a wad [IMG]

It's not going to be a cartoon. We are modeling it after some pictures we have from the 1940's of a '34 roadster, and yes, it's channeled and everything. I agree, the drawing does look like a cartoon... but don't worry, the car will be strictly traditional... the drawing was just to get the idea....

Are we restoring it to original?? No. It's a Hotrod.

  8. Kris, Lynn Williams has a complete 34 chassis from under a 3 window. I believe he is talking $1000 to $1200 depending on what all you need. it is complete with flathead, trans, rear end, front end etc. all stock.
They blew a couple holes in it when taking the body off, but I belive it could be repaired rather easily.
Lynn is in Ca. right now but should return in a couple days.
    Let me know if interested.

[/ QUOTE ] you said "this is what we are building"when i hear that i take it literal...
the cartoon looks cool building a car like that would be neat (cop shop coupe) looks like major modifying to get the proportions , which would be dumb to do to a gennie when they make replaceable ones that you can cut and buy a new one if you mess it up

ive had to deal with street rod types that brag about how they started with the best gennie they could find, then proceeded to shave the handles fill the vent hidden hinges roll pan ect.. looks like a glass one when they're done... , cutting a survivor into a jalopy makes as much sense to me also...maybe you havent been in to this that long but, 34 roadsters are hens teeth ...plus they are made of wood... good luck finding one that resembles a car ...

    you have a return pm

  17. I know were a sweet half done gennie 34 roadster is not cheap but could be had

Wow, I did not know the throttlers actually built there cars. I thought they just paid too much for them and painted them black and put numbers on the doors. [IMG]

I agree with using a repro body. More so for the sake of having better metal to start.

I saw one (33 or 4 - body – doors – chassis) for sale a few (4) months ago up 50 on the way to Placerville. Went by there 3 weeks ago and did not see it. Probably gone but it might be worth a try.

I don't know who you even are, but maybe that is because you didn't post an intro.(not that I care or want to be the intro police) But, making such an ignorant asshole post like that for your first is probably not the best way to start here. Maybe in your long research of our club you missed this post:

A few years ago, before our club had chosen a name, we were at the California Hot Rod Reunion. We started talking to an older gentelmen that really liked our stuff. He mentioned that his father (who had passed on) was a founding member of the Throttlers of Hollywood. He mentioned that he still had all of his Dad's plaques, timing tags and jackets. He told us stories about his dad's involvment in the club in the begining of land speed racing. Did you know that the SCTA was founded in a meeting at the Throttlers' club house? I didn't until we talked with him. He himself, in his high school days, tried to start the Throttlers club back up. He said it only lasted for about 7 years, then everyone lost interest. Anyhow to make a long story short, we got his blessing to use the Throttlers as our club's name.

The original club was a land speed club. Membership in a club was required to run on the dry lakes back then. This winter our club will start work on a land speed car. We plan to use the powerplant from my old 8-second street car. This should provide plenty of power to push our car over the 200mph mark. We like to stick to the roots as much as possible. Hopefully with everything we have done so far and with what we plan in the future, we will do the name of the Throttlers proud.

And, I challange you to go find some of these cars that we have copied, since none of us know about them.

It seems like you have nothing better to do than talk shit on the internet. Well we have just spent all the lottery money we all won and bought a bunch of overpriced cars, so we are to busy painting them flat black, and putting numbers on them.(I took that as a rib, hopefully I was right) So we don't have as much time to sit in front of our computer and talk shit about other people just asking for some help on finding some parts.
So as I go out to the store for flat black primer, and get some mags to find some cars to copy, I thank all of you that have chimed in trying to help out. That's what makes this place good. To all the others I don't care what you have to say so save your energy typing. If you were just joking, then ignore everything above. If you weren't read it again, DICK!

    Thanks again
    Ryan

P.S. This car is not going to be a jalopy, but a nice finished, trditional rod, and the owner wants original so that is what he is getting.

Hey Ryan, This place (the HAMB) is chalk full of group thinking fuckwads. Notice he had no nuts to post his name? And he only registered to to talk shit on this post. And if you guys are "copying" what has he built that is so original? After all it's all been done before! Every traditional hot rod and custom out there is based off of another's design.

    See ya this weekend.

(BTW, the word different is spelled with an E after the two F's)

Golly, were copying names and rods huh?

You say that as if WE were the ONLY ones doing that. Many clubs carry on the names of our founders. How about the Choppers, Road Runners, Gear Grinders, Pan Draggers or the Idlers, just for starters? I would suppose you hate all of them too...

Copying rods.. hummm..... '32 Ford... how many times has that been done? (Don’t get me wrong '32 guys, I love 'em, just trying to make a point).

To do as you say, "something diffrent" would mean we would have to do something original. Contrary to your belief, I believe we are doing our own thing... in a way. Yes, we borrow ideas from those that have 'already done that'. However, how could you call anything a Traditional vehicle if it was not modeled after something that was already built before? Everyone on this forum is guilty of that in one way or another I'm sure. Just to make my point clear, lets look up the words 'traditional' and 'original' in the Dictionary, shall we?

    o·rig·i·nal
    adj.
    1. Preceding all others in time; first.

    2.
    a. Not derived from something else; fresh and unusual: an original play, not an adaptation.

    b. Showing a marked departure from previous practice; new: a truly original approach. See Synonyms at new.
    Productive of new things.

    tra·di·tion·al
    adj.
    1. Of or pertaining to tradition; derived from tradition; communicated from ancestors to descendants by word only; transmitted from age to age without writing; as, traditional opinions; traditional customs; traditional expositions of the Scriptures.

    2. Observant of tradition; attached to old customs; old-fashioned.

These 2 words are the EXACT OPPOSITE! You requesting that we (a traditional club) do something different is an oxy-moron.

    Moron.

If the aforementioned items are a problem for you, I'm sorry. I'll try to do better. It would help out a lot if you could please send me a copy of " the RUST-IN-PIECE POLITICALLY CORRECT GUIDE TO HOT RODS and SUITABLE BEHAVIOR . (pm me for my address)

I think Mr. rust-in-peace is merely a front for someone who is already on the HAMB and just doesn't have the brass to say how he feels using his real identity... He registers today at 3:03 and makes his very first post at 3:16... Come on, be a man. Yes, we are 'wana bees'... Wana be above your stealth 'high school' tactics.

    rust,

first of all eat a dick, you homo

We have nothing to prove to you or anyone else....we've already done it, the proofs in the pudding

it seems you are refering to my truck with your ignorant comments...I take that rather personal. If you had a coherent thought is that egg brain of yours, you would do a little pondering of what and what not to say, and when
Your cudos do not matter much

If you were to spend one day with this group of fellas, even ten minutes, it would totally change your mind on who we are and what we stand for, we are car freaks hell bent on raising the bar of what a traditional hot rod are to us and everyone that comes into contact with us

It seems my friends, loudpedal, shortcut, the deviator and others have raised quite a few eyebrows here and in the world

Maybe one day you will grow a sac and come over and see just what we are all about, until then I will polietly ask you to keep your skewed opinions and your negative attitude away....it just makes you look retared

    jc

ps.. as to everyone else thanks for your kind words of praise, they are much appreciated

Are we talking about the same one? The one you could see from 50 at about eldarado hills? Red primered body on a rolling chassis, no fenders?
