Someone drilled out the screws that hold the door hinges on my 31 coupe. I have tried to find replacement hinges, but the wanted ads haven't produced anything. What is the best way to repair these, weld em up and tap them, helicoil, drill thru the back and use a nut???? Also, is there a better alternative to the slotted screws these originally were installed with, maybe something with an allen head?

I had the same problem on my 40 Sedan, I welded the holes up, then drilled and taped new holes. The allen head bolts would work fine, and you'll not have a problem getting them tight. Slotted heads always get bouggered up after awhile anyway! Make a template before you start welding to get the new hole in the exact location, or you'll have fits with the doors aligning... Measure twice, cut once...

I could have had the same problem. But I made one of those tools for removing screws that fit in an air hammer. Took out ALL of them in re-usable condition in less than 1/2 hour
