i have searched forum after forum and read everything i can find. i have a (i think) 54 chev 2 dr. i cant find the vin, i have cut whats left of the floor out to see the frame, nothing, no tag on pillar, only the fisher info tag on the firewall. It lists a serial but it doesnt seem to jive with what its supposed to look like, its numbers only. i have read it should start with a A,B,C,or D and then follow with a year, followed by unit number. any other places it could be?

    any advice is appreciated.

Should be on the drivers door pillar. The fisher tag has the body number but it is NOT the vin, but it will have the year (STYLE XX). As far as I know they didn't put the vin on the frame until 55.

Yup, driver's side A-Pillar, stainless tag. Says "CHEVROLET" and then the VIN.

Just open the door and you'll see it there.
