    Hey guys!

I'm doing a bit of planning as far as future upgrades for my two fiddy once I get her up and running...

The thing I want the most is power disc brakes up front, maybe in back...The problem is that pesky 8 lug pattern I have to deal with.

Is there a semi-simple way for me to convert the Ford Dana60 (1972 I believe) to a 5 on 5.5 lug pattern? Could I just have the hubs filled and drilled to the desired pattern, and have the same done to the drums?

How big is the center hub on that rear? how big is the center hole in the wheel?

How about you get a half ton pickup rearend, they aren't that hard to find.

change the axle ends and axles....depending on what spline the unit is....that may require aftermarket axles.... as it may be a 35 spline , or 30 or ???? not sure on the other possibles or better yet , sell it to someone building a drag car and use a 9" :D

The rear brakes aren't my problem, its the fronts that are throwing me off...

I'm VERY new to this and just can't quite seem to piece together the right combination of parts to get 8 lug hubs and rotors on the stock spindles. In all honesty I'm probably not looking in the right places.

Designing and fabbing up a caliper bracket isn't really a problem, its those darned rotors...Any ideas? I would love to keep this bad boy 8 lug...not that big of a deal, but it is certainly a detail that would get to me...

Yes, if I recall some of the early 1/2 tons had (rare) d60s with 5/5.5 lugs. But you'd have to check the width too. They are likely a little too wide for some earlier models. Other than that, there are tons of 4x4 shops that sell conversion kits for d60 and 5.5 lugs. It's a pretty popular set up for Jeeps.

My truck is a 53 F250, we pulled the rear end from a junk yard, same generation F250. I doubt it is the original rear though, this truck had six lug up front iirc.

When I ran the bill of materials numbers it turned up either a 73 or 72 F250...

I guess I'm not so much concerned with 5 lug in back as I am the same pattern on all four corners and disk brakes up front...

    DANA 60 up front :p?

Speaking of Jeeps, I think some of the old J20 Jeep pickups had them in 5x5.5 On a rare occasion some Fords had them in 5 lug as well. Maybe even IH. But to have a 5 lug Dana 60 (with 30 spline axles) and converted to discs, when something breaks, you'll be stuck finding parts again. My $.02

Might be easier to convert the front to discs with 8 lug from a later model f250 like the typical conversion to discs is done for the half ton.
