Hey guys, I was asked by a friend who is promoting a concert in Sherman, TX if I could help put together a car and bike show at the event. Figured HAMB'ers and hopefully some of the local clubs might be interested. This will be a charity event, very laid-back. So far no definite plans for awards (maybe you club guys can help in that department?). No set entry fees (donation only-100% will go to the charities). What I have in mind is a VERY small scale show like the Kustom Kings' do at Watson's Drive-In. Event is on June 6th. If you are interested please let me know. pm is the best way to get hold of me. THANKS!
I have approximately 20 car spots open. Free concert with several bands and a chance to show off your car. I would REALLY like to have a couple of clubs represented. This is a charity event benefitting North Texas Youth Connection and Bikers Against Child Abuse.
Nobody on the HAMB is interested? Man, I figured I could at least find 20 guys with cars who wanted to show off their rides and hang out at a concert.
Would love to have you up for the show! Here's some more details: check-in will be from noon-2:45. Concert gates open @ 3:00 and the concert ends at 10:00pm. Awards presentation about 5:00, but not definite yet...planning on home-built awards-any club that wants to reserve club spots and award a 'club pick' is welcome and 100% appreciated. HAMB members and clubs have been given first crack at reserved spots, but I've got a short timeline...PLEASE don't make me give HAMB'er spots to an import club! Early next week I'm gonna have to open this thing up to late-model cars and imports. I DON'T want to do that!
Thanks Tony, I know you are dealing with finals, so I appreciate you letting me know early that some of the Torques are gonna be here. No need to register for the show beforehand, all I need to know is how many guys are bringing cars and I'll reserve the spots for you in a group. I can probably also reserve a spot inside the fence right next to the cars close to the stage for your chairs, canopy, etc. I will pm you later in the week with directions, etc.
I'll get hold of the promoter this afternoon and get a list of all the bands-there are still some things in the works too...Tony Brown, the promoter, has several bands he is still talking to. I'll post a list ASAP.
This is the line-up for bands so far: Ronny Spears is country/Southern Rock New York Summer is modern rock (U2 ish) The Good Bad and Ugly is country/southern rock Rachel Toews is acoustic rock/folk. May have more bands to add later. My goal is to fill all the spaces for cars ASAP. If you, or your club, would like to reserve spots please pm me and let me know how many spaces you need. The phone number on the poster is the concert promoter's-please don't call him to reserve car or bike show spaces!
I thought I would chime in and say that I'm interested, but I'm not sure I can make it... don't save a spot on my account, but if time gets closer and you still need cars, let me know.
I'm new in this outfit but will tell the guys here at Aerocountry Airport (West of McKinney) about it. A lot of us early car lovers fell victims to the lure of even faster machines but returned to our first loves. You'd be amazed at what's tucked under some of our wings!
Thanks for getting the word out...plane guys often have some really cool cars. You might like this rod: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmKdHvz_-j8

racer32, Thanks for the cool video! Yea, that's what we do with our stuff when ready to show it off around here. We sometimes do group things too. About 4 years ago 9 guys all started building T-buckets together to save costs. PS - Is this show going to be at the Watson's @ I-75? Oh, and where in the REBUBLIC OF TEXAS is "Tejas"?
Tejas= Texas in Spanish. Show is @ Seasons West pavillion in Sherman. The entrance is at 4500 w. Highway 56 across the street from Dorothy's Bumper Club. wildoe-I'll forward the info to the promoter and have him contact you if he is still looking for bands. Thanks guys.
Still have a few slots saved for HAMB'ers if anyone else is interested. Should be a fun evening. Here's a pic of the trophy a friend made for the show:
Anyone who makes it to the show, please look me up. I'll be wearing a CrossMembers CC T-shirt, or look for the blue truck in pic on the flyer.
