A friend told me today that California is going to outlaw Black Paint on Cars. It's hard for me to believe, anybody heard of this? Has something to do with causing too much heat?

I believe they are initializing a plan to eliminate certain dark colors by 2016 that could potentially make the A/C have to work harder thereby causing the car to be less fuel efficient. It's utter ********. They'll probably get away with it too.

Plus I think I heard that they are relying on the availability of a certain type of reflective paint that doesn't exist yet? I'm not sure about that, just heard it...

what if you agree to only drive at night? Can I keep my black car then! Or what if your from out of state, or can you buy a car and go "cross state lines" to get an illegal black paint job? What about all the millions of black cars on the road, do they all have to get repainted?
What nonsense, and a waste of time and money....

Having everything white reflects the sun back out to the atmosphere instead of absorbing it. It's like fooling mother nature that theres snow on the ground or something like that. Think light colored hiways , parking lots , roofs etc. Now I will pack another bowl.:D

They'll have legal weed and my black suburban will be crushed, as will ALL cars older than 10 yrs. That way we can save the big three and everyone will toe the line.
as was said," if they cant afford the gas, they should buy cars that get better milage." if ya cant afford the gas, how can you afford the car payment too?

California ****s, It wouldn't suprise me if in a couple of years we'll all be mandated to paint our cars pink. For all those outside Ca. remember that the stupidity starts here and speads like a virus to the other states.

So it's Henry Ford's fault? That 1914-1925 "any color as long as it is BLACK" caused all this to start?

  18. It never makes it to Wy. They don't give a **** what you do here as long as you don't mess with their horses, or their mamas. Oh yeah, and don't **** with a guy's hat, other than that your good.

Not just Cal. that is f'ed up. I live in Oregon. There has been bill attempts to outlaw larger that stock tires on 4X4s, and roof racks/spoilers on cars. More rolling m*** = pollution. More wind resistance = pollution.
We need to stand up and take the country back!

The only way the stupid people who thought this up were put in a position to do something stupid like this was due to the stupid people voting those other stupid people into office so they could make those stupid decisions.

Always keep in mind where the buck truly stops.

    It was never an "idea".

The CARB (California Air Resources Board) was developing ideas to reduce the use of air conditioning in cars. The regulations were to address the solar reflectivity of automobile windows to meet a minimum 20% standard. Paint color was considered, but dropped because it was not a cost-effective solution.

The idea that California was going to "ban black paint on cars" was exploited by Rush Limbaugh.

If you want to HATE on California, fine. Let's talk about the weather here.

  22. Which aspect of the weather do you want to talk about, the one that causes all the mudslides or the one that facilitates the wildfires?

I can talk weather. I'm in Florida.

If the politicians want zero emissions, let them put their money where their mouths are. Ban gasoline, diesel, ethanol, jet fuel and coal. If you want to drive a car, truck, etc., best be within driving distance of Neveda or Arizona to refill.

I hope Pelosi, Reid, Waxman, etc., all die in a Prius fire.

Yup, no more flying in jets, no more 3500+ sq ft houses or offices, no more motorcades of SUV's if all that happens then I may listen to Gore spout off....or any of his other dipsticks that want to remove every gasoline powered item, except thier own....
It's 72 and sunny here, and no chance of earthquakes, wildfire, drought, or smog....

Florida hurricanes? But you are too "political". My point was technology, and how stupid rumors get people excited.

    Back to the weather...

  26. Yesterday morning the wind chill was 17 below and it's been blowing dirt sideways for about the last month here. But, it goes great with the six percent beer I buy a block away from my house at a drive-up , and the last gunshot I heard was the neighbor shooting his dog. When I ***led my Model T, all I had to do was send a dollar bill, and a picture of a stock T to the state and they sent me a VIN#. Yeah, I can handle a little dirt in the face.

How about if politicians have to be driven without A/C on in their big fuel eating limos? Ha- this idea would go away fast. Yes, they too have A/C on during Winter because of all the hot air BS coming out of their mouths. Plus, what would Dog the Bounty Hunter do without black SUVs in Hawaii?

OK this will probably get closed soon but I think what this paint issues shows is that, the car hobby is going to keep being under "attack" from enviromentalist, and "greenies" because it's easy pickins.
It's easier to go after motorcycles, hot rods (thank God for SEMA), and 4x4's and b*** boats then jet airliners and on highway transports. I can't even buy a motorcycle for my son soon for fear he's going to lick the thing! Even though I'd bet they are larger pollution creators then hobbist. If I'm wrong prove me wrong.
I think the paint idea, the cash for clunkers (which could be a good thing if it's limited to 1980's cars :) ), and going after older cars for emissions standards are just a way for a politician to strut his stuff. Pick on the little guy.
I think if your really worried about the earth, there are probably better things to go support and be active about. I'm still not convinced myself, I think there are A LOT of personal agendas going on, and people out to make a name or a buck for themselves.
