As many of you will know there has been a lot of suffering and immense devastation and too much loss of life from the devasting bushfires that hit the state of Victoria in Australia on Saturday 7 February, wiping out almost one million acres of land, forests and many, many townships.

One of the worst affected towns was a place called Kingslake.

On Sunday 3 May the newly formed Kinglake based, Phoenix Rod & Custom Club held their first event in the heart of the fire ravaged township with the call going out for rodders and other car enthusiasts to come to Kingslake to show their support for the township and the Club.

And come they did !!!.....member sof the Kingslake Club brought along some of their vehicles that were destroyed in the bushfires which really drove home the terrible impact that these out-of-control firestorms had on the township.

Link to pics from the event and a nicely written reflective write-up on the day by a rodder called Steve Bridges which is well worth the read. LINK:http://www.carsofaustralia.com.au/events_gallery.php?details=319

Always sad to hear of fire any where much less involving our hot rods. Its sad enough to see a lot of the old cars out in a field some where rotting away but the worst is the fire. It takes no prisoners. Its great that the hotrodders come out in force and support the towns people.

To give you some extent of the damage from the fires in February I can recall reading where just one car insurance said they were expecting to receive write-off claims for well over 100 cl***ic cars and hot rods that had been destroyed in the fires.
