...just scored these Holmes valve covers for one of my Rocket motors, anyone know any history on the company? Did they produce other speed equipment? I found a Holmes Mfg Co. in Cleveland that are aluminum fabricators?...
Hmmm, I'm scratching my *** here cause those look like FE covers, not Rocket. Didn't the rocket covers have two holes in the center for studs to come through?

I have a set of Holmes "No Name" VCs for my Caddys, 49-62. I used to think they were Moon "No Name" that had been cast for Moon by Holmes till a few years back.
They aren't FE ford, But I have seen a set for one on Ebay....Wish I had bid higher on them so I could show a pic!
wish they still made these as i want 2 pairs for 2 of my 394's already got some edelbrock and offenhauser would be nice with noname to match the the blower intake better, or heck wish weiand did make some for the 394, as far as i know they only made for 303-324
Sorry, no pictures. They had WEIAND in block letters in the center, and pretty much resembled the mid to late '50s covers that they made for the sbc.
Holmes was a metal caster which did jobs for many industries, not just the hotrod world. Those covers were a job for a "known" hotrod business taking advantage of the no-name advantage, that being they could sell them to any business or retail and make a nice piece of change on both ends.
i got a pair of holmes valve covers on my 60' olds 394...havent seen anyone with another pair..ill try to get some pics up later tonight-seann
yep, Moon "no-names" had a pair for the 394 years ago, sold em to CGkidd still have a couple pair for the earlier motors
