I have already searched for 1955 olds, 1955 olds parts, ect... but I can not find a thread with information on body parts like floor pans, is there any after market parts for these olds bodies? If not, will the chevy years fit, floor pans that is? Mine are gone and I don't want to have to purchase a whole car for the floor. I guess I may have to make them, but I hope their are some parts for these things cause I am missing a bunch of stuff.
good stuff on their site but nothing for olds. But I am building a 51 ford F1 as well and they have parts for it, so thank you for the info.
When I built my 55, there was nothing available. I don't think things have changed much. I used 56 Chevy quarter panel patches, slightly modified. The 55-7 Chevy floors would be close enough to work.
we dont have anything for a 55 olds but agree with chop olds if you have the smaller 55 olds chevy stuff should fine for floors, rocker ok, 1/4 kind of close but needs mods.
For what it's worth, 55 Chevy and '55 Olds use completely different frames, by the time you rework Chevy floors to fit you may as well have made them from scratch.
Yeah good luck, I looked awhile back and found almost nothing. I don't know if the chevy floors will work I would definitely eyeball a bare chevy floor before ordering. It may be close though. I'm lucky mine only has a small soft spot on passenger side so I'm just going to make a patch. Otherwise grab some sheet metal and go to town.
im building a 56 olds that i dident need to replace floor pans but here are some places i found for parts hope this helps.. ..floor pans can be found from classic fabrication or usa parts supply. on ebay under the buy it now items theres a guy who is selling old patch panels and has them for the front half of a 55 olds qtr into rocker...if all else fails call a place called desert vally auto parts in arizona...www.dvap... they have a ton of sheet metal and they will cut it off a car if need be.................................john
Thanks to everyone for their time in posting. It has made my decision an easy one. I can just make the floor and call it done...you guys saved me huge amounts of time fooling around with it. The floors are the only thing I was concerned with. The other patches are nothing new, just an everyday thing around here. My next thing is deciding what engine to go with. I have no idea which block is sitting in it but it is just the block and I would not think it was worth using for anything other than a anchor. I think I would like to fuel inject it and really make a nice cross country driver out of it because I think they are good looking cars when tricked out. Any thoughts? Again, thanks for the post.
you can find floor pans along with lots of other stuff here: http://www.forwhatyouneed.com/tansonp1.html Follow the links. The pans are similar to '56's and since no other decent replicas are available, they would make a good swap.Another option I used is that there is a tech school in my town that has a sheet metal course so I got some student(s) to make one for free.Easy to make with the tools. You will need to make a good pattern tho. Any other ??? ,I 'm sure I've been thru them all.
I bought my pans for my 55 Olds from a guy on ebay. They look good but they don't fit perfect so I will need to modify them a bit but not as much work as making them yourself.
https://www.fusick.com/catalogdownload.htm http://www.fusick.com/catfile/catalog 510_Layout 1.pdf Here are some parts. Fusick has pretty much everything including a bunch of new old stock parts. expensive but worth it for those parts you will probably never find. hope this helps. but yeah theres not much on here for the 55 olds.
Yeah but do those floor pans have all of the same patterns pressed into the floor like the originals? Probably not if they are the ones I'm thinking of. If you were gonna do that, just go to the local tinsmith. So nice to pull up the floor mat and not see boo-boo's unless its already been 'round the bend.
Look at the floors in a same year buick as I think they might be the same,if you have a 88 the century and special should be the same and if its a 98 look at a roadmaster.
