I am a carpenter & my house is built of timber. It has been through several cyclones with wind speeds of well over 100mph with no damage at all. However I wouldn't recommend glueing timber back together with liquid nails if you want it to stay in one piece. I would have to agree that timber is much stronger than you might imagine provided you use the correct species.
You're right on. A lot of guys don't know the true strength of wood. Hell, I built a stand for my big fish tank and that thing weighs well over 4,000 pounds. The footprint is 3'x8'. That's a lot of weight in a small area.
Jezz, I dunno. I don't have a picutre of it but I really dig that chopped T called Bad News that one of the Choppers owns. That car is bad ass.
the big issue for me-in any model T- is SIZE. they have plenty of headroom, but beyond that, it gets pretty cramped in there, and in all the wrong spots (big feets.)
These questions are ridiculous because noone knows the answer. __________________ The reason they're ridiculous is because no one is willing to make simple stiff paper patterns and cut 20 gauge steel, .063" wall 1" tube, and do some wood replacing! Two days of simple space-framing and the body is structurally sound. Just a little time and effort.
Damn straight! I had that kit, along with several other similar offerings from AMT. Their 3 in 1 series allowed for the attempted creation of some period authentic altereds, gassers, et al
