For what it's worth.. the driver's side bank is forward of the p***enger side (rod-placement on the crank determines that). That's why it's so hard to see.
But if you look closely you can see the bail and the valve cover.
    Wicked setup.

Hey, isn't it against the law to read peoples minds?:D That's EXACTLY what I've been planning in my head for quite some time. Only deviation is I want to do a chopped top on a regular bug and put a spun aluminum tank and radiator in back where the motor usually resides.

Hey Dean. I am sure you know your oval is still around and owned by Stephan from DKP III. He just did a minor makeover on the car and it looks better than ever. I had a nice VW bitd that now resides in Norway. VW's can haul A** when done right

That engine was built by Roy Cantrell,He is well known in the texas vw circle,He is the first guy that ever built a 94x94 engine, everyone said it could not be done,But they didn't know cantrell,He did a lot of machine work with Lyle Cherry, out of dallas. He & Cherry are 2 of the best vw race engine builders in the country.Cherry held some nhra records back in the 1970's with vw's,I think he ran the us nationals & won H or I gas.

I dont think any custom idea is too wierd after what I have seen out there. Its all Personal Taste. If you like it, Dont Worry. Just look at a lot of other pictures of what other people have done with their VW Conversions and pick what you like the best from all of them. When you said a Flathead in front. Do you remember those Ford Coupe style Fibergl*** hoods that were for the Bugs. Think of the possibility of having one of those raised up with a Flathead under it. Good luck and Dont Give up

I love the old bugs slammed and rodded up, the SoCal front suspension stuff is cool lookin. There is some really bad *** **** on here http://www.volksrods.com/ .

  14. I agree. That is really cool. I think any "car guy" would dig that kind of machinery.:)
The old bugs look so much cl***ier and stylish than the new ones.
    They were so simple.

  15. I always thought the front suspention on the early bug was a pretty clean and simple set up.

Nothing closet about me. I cut my teeth on Bugs. Had three as my first cars.

    That motor kicks ***!

My first in the driveway during a hot August night paint job was on one of my Bugs. As the paint was drying, I was picking out gnats out of the fresh paint.
