You be the judge... I'm told they've been in dry storage for over 30 years, have never had a tire on them and have never been bolted to a car. 16x13.
Thats not paint, that is the oxidation of the magnesium. It is alot of rubbung to get them to shine, ask me how I know.
Whats to judge? They look new/nos in the pics, but they aren't in our hands. What are you really asking? Or just a lil "show and tell"?
I know how razorshotrods knows about shining them, I know too. I would believe they have never been on a car or had a tire on them, there are no scars what so ever. I would bet they are OK to run, but it is a good idea to have them Zyglo'd (magnaflux doesn't work on mag). SCTA requires zyglo inspection every two years, so it is a good idea.
Most vintage racing ***ociations won't allow old mag wheels on the track. Too many failures. Ask me how I know. thnx, jack vines
It is a light grey oxidization on mine, and the oxidization is uneven after 5 years. Those look really smooth. I had them polished once, and they lasted a couple of weeks before severe elbow grease was required again
Yeah, just show and tell. Kind of a barn find except it's not a whole car. I'm already running mag Halibrands on my 55, so this is just a bonus. I was skeptical of the color and tried to use a little paint remover on the inside of the wheel. No change. I think it's natural magnesium patina. I have a bunch of magnesium wheels and every pair seems to have a different color and texture.... but most of them have been cleaned and polished over the years. The lug holes are perfect with no tell tale sign of lug washers.
Thats the best.... Shakey knows his wheels...this must be like the crown jewel. Im still pissed I didnt get those halibrand spindle mounts off you. Those are a dream huh....nice score dude.
When you were young did you ever get a sadistic thrill out of dangling a piece of fresh meat in front of a starving dog? OK, Are they yours or are thinking of buying? Frank
