Salutations from Batavia Ohio, My wife and I run an auto repair shop specializing in driveability and electrical repairs mostly on Cadillacs but we do all makes. We have a 49 KB-2 international converted to fwd with a northstar engine. It's a rolling ch***is now and we're starting on the cosmetics. We just acquired a 39 ford 2door sedan that's getting a northstar engine with a rear wheel drive 4l60e trans. Haven't decided on a diff yet or front suspension. Have a few extra of these northstars and we were thinking about putting together a drivetrain package for streetrodders interested in a lightweight high torque fuel efficient powertrain. We have a few extra international parts to sell or trade and are in need of a lot of parts for the 39.
Welcome from Louisville. I like the idea of the Northstar -- Lightweight, High torque for true. When you say "package", how far are you going? What all do you expect to include?
We plan to put together a turnkey package with wiring and PCM for engine controls. There are some possibilities including the AC panel and instrument cluster for those that want on board diagnostic capabilities.
I have a mazda pickup with a northstar engine mounted in the rear with a turbo. It'll really pin you back in the seat. Turns in the mid elevens in a quarter. The engine is stock except for the turbo. Here is a youtube link if you want to look at it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZX7mEQPQfkY Im not completly satisfied with the ECM and transmission controls. It has a stand alone transmission controler and a modified LS1 camaro ECM Tell me what your planning on using for an ECM in your setup. Steve
