i have a 77 buick regal. with a buick 350 and it is starting to use a bunch of oil. everything else is not so great either. i was thinking of putting in a warmed up caddy 500. so me and the kids could use it as foot brake car. hummmm?? it also has 400 trans. are the motor mounts close??
Too new for this board, but if the mounts are wrong the frame probably has holes to move them to make it work.
Dad and I put a 455 Buick engine in a '76 Century back in the early '80's. I'm pretty sure it's the same car because they didn't go to the small Regal till '78, (I think). The 455 went in like it was born there. I think we used the frame supports from a '73 Centurion and just figured out which set of holes to use and in it went. As for the Caddy engine, I'll bet it's the same. Even if the frame doesnt have the holes where they need to be, how hard is it to drill a few holes? You could even weld in your frame supports if need be, just check for hood clearance before you weld 'em solid. The only issue I can think of is, youll need the rear sump Eldorado oil pan for sure. Yeah, it's too new for the board and you'll probably get some flack but, I for one, love that body style and know firsthand what an awesome sleeper they make. With the built 455, built TH400 and the stock rear end I used to run all over all the new 5.0 Mushtangs and Z-28's around here. Good luck with it, maybe I'll see you out in it this summer.
yea i know its a late model! i do have an A rpu. i already have the car. and get a caddy engine for free!!! and i have been thinking about doing a little drag racing. also my kids could drive it to.
