So I was just minding my own business just outside Chicago. I asked around and heard there might be something fun to do in the park. What do you know! A Picnic! Hellfish answered my boredom with an invite, so I found my way over today and joind the Chrome Czars and a few Blacktop Barons (others?) for some burgers, dogs and plenty of story tellin'. I want to thank the whole group for making me feel at home, but won't humiliate myself trying to get all the names right. Topping the list should be Hellfish, Mike, Josh, 1lowtrk, Kevin from HRCC, the rest of the Chrome Czars and Barons, all the lovely ladies and even BobK! Here are a few pics I took. The setting was perfect. Weather was great. Enjoy. I'll let the locals fill in captions. Top secret grilling techniques exposed! I missed who was driving this Split Window, 4 speed, fuelie, Sting Ray. 25k on the clock and clearly driven. Awesome!
It is amazing to me that you can post a questions about the hotrod goings on in any area and get such a warm welcome from the HAMB community. I have never seen such a friendly message board, its touching. Glad Scotty had a good time, thank you all for entertaining and keeping him outa trouble. And boy, the wieners don't stand up like that in Texas!
Thanks for the pics. I used to go there back in the '70's. Had some fun times there (so they tell me) and got into just a little bit of trouble every now and then. Ah, the good(?) old days.....
good food good friends good times sorry we didn't meet, just being my usual anti-social self. maybe next time.
Hey Scotty, Glad you enjoyed yourself with all the flat landers. Good meeting you & talking with you maybe we can do it again soon. If your in the area June 6th, maybe you can make the Blacktop Barons Roadblock down by Yorkville. Later, George
Yeah it was a good time all right, those guys know how to make a stranger feel welcome. I just wish that I could have stayed longer. BB
It was nice to meet you Scotty!! Nice to have a fellow Texan around these here parts! Maybe you'll come back for the Pile Up ?!?!?!? -Star
I stopped by around 4:30, dropped off some parts for Jimbob. Got to meet Raygun, Jimbob, Hellfish and a few others. John in the OT MDX
God you're killing me. Missing it bad. That's what happens when you're 1200 miles away. But thanks for the pics. Dig Lucky's awesome vertical dogs!
Cool pics! Great to meet you! I had fun with BobK. Especially when we went to pick up the wheels and tires in my wagon, and they wouldn't all fit in the rumble seat, as I foolishly thought they might. Oh, we, just made two trips!
there was plenty of beer! and soda and water and juice boxes for the dozens of little kids that showed up! Glad you could make it Scotty. Just let us know next time you're up here!
Thanks again folks! It was great. I'll find my way back. All those tiny kids were really hard to keep up with until they'd had a beer or two. Then they slowed down a bit.
