I have been looking mainly for parts for my wifes Falcon but this weekend it was all about my 65 Falcon that I am going to do up G***er "Style". I went to Bakersfield and found a early 351W with C4 for dirt cheap. Heard it run and she sounds strong. I am going to re-gasket it and put in new spark plugs/fluids/hoses/belts/freeze plugs and call it good. Same with the ******. I also went to Lompoc this weekend to pick up a straight axle front end off of a 49 chevy truck that has already been converted over to 5 lug. Plans are to clean it up and replace what ever is worn out and use it on the front of the Falcon. It appears to be very close in width to the Falcon. All of this was found dirt cheap which is why i was able to buy it before my wifes motor swap is complete.
looks like you did good. check everything out real good, as it sounds like you plan to. Research what it will take to put that frontend in. I did not buy any cool stuff.
The cool old dude gave me the pieces to an early '20's touring car and the cowl, windshield frame and ***emblies, along with the dash to an '20's Dodge truck. The funniest part was that as I was loading it his son came over (mid 60's maybe) and thought I was a metal s****per!
while looking for 53-56 ford f100 brakes to go on my model a project at the new braunfels swapmeet an old man told me that he had just put a camaro front clip and a nova rear end under his 47 ford convert then he asked would i be interested in the front clip and rearend out from under it for $350 and that he had just put new brakes , bearing's etc... on it . it took alot of doing's but i fi****ly got them this past weekend .
38dodgebiz , i seen your other post and can't believe what you paid for that model a . one killer deal !
looks like it was a good weekend for alot of car guys. I finally found a good original set of windshield post for my t, been looking for these for awille now. bolted right up fits like a glove
i picked up a 52 ford 3/4 ton, solid truck, 52 mercury frame motor and **** cab, 64 Envoy not to bad of shape. spare 52 hood, a f1 steering box?, and 52 axle with spring mounts for 5 bucks so i am a little tired
The leafs on the front will be about half under my frame rails and about half on the inside so I will build a plate and brace it up on the inside of the frame rail. width wise it looks like it will work. I have not done any hub to hub measuring but to the middle of the tires is 57" on the straight axle and on the falcon it is 57" so without knowing the backspacing i can not be sure they are the same but should work out non the less.
Not that it matters much, but I think you bought some Chevrolet roadster windshield posts not 26-27 Fords. The Ford posts have almost a teardrop shape to the bottom body flange and rounded posts. Those look squared off to me and that says Chevrolet. This is just for information, since they fit and you are happy that's great.
No major purchases for me for a little while, since I'm saving up for the closing costs on the house, but I have been ******ing up 60's SW gauges on ebay for cheap to complete my gauge set on the dash of my '40 Plymouth g***er...
i picked up a complete Roof for a 34 ford p/u and an old cowl from a model A from ABones in Newhampshire
All I picked up this weekend was a new brake booster and new u-joints for my O/T '78 Ford F-150. It had a bad vibration at 70 mph and above. The new u-joints evened that right out.
early FD instruments 100mph speedo, chrome offset Flathead gen bracket and firewall mount throttle pivot thingy off an old hotrod (sixties) ,32 fuel tank, gl*** reflector number plate bolt, really old drill stand, and a new set of engineers dividers. all this from a very small, and rather ****, swapmeet in melbourne australia. I like the hunt.
I must say that I'm a little bit jealous with all the good stuff you all picked up this weekend. All I picked up was about 40,000 pounds of produce. Once I delivered that I drove over by Chicago and picked up 39,000 pounds of groceries for my back haul.
I scored an HF Shrinker/Stretcher. On sale for $160 from $199 plus my 20% off coupon make it $130 for the set with both bodies. Can't beat that in my book, Chinese or not.
I pick up an absolutely mint Southbend lathe out of the ba*****t of a neighbor of my parents. I bought it from the original owners daughter-in-law. Her late husband inherited it from his father! It is a benchtop with 9" swing, 32" bed. Closest I can figure from the serial number it was built in 1941. Everything is tight, the ways are still perfectly scratched and even the paint appears to be mostly flawless under some light shop grime. Very light. It has had a very easy life. It came mounted on a wood bench with drawers and tooled up!
Well it wasn't this weekend, but last weekend a buddy of mine and I drove to the Philly area and picked up his 392 HEMI. He bought it off of evilbay. The guy he picked up from had it in a parts car!! Motor with trans was complete minus carb. The coolest thing was the model a 5 window that drove past us, running, you guessed it a 392 w/ 8 singles!!
