My buddy picked up a 47 international harvester short bed truck body. I guess he has all of the body but they guys would`nt let him take the frame with it, said they were going to crush it. Anyway, he said he was going to build a frame but i`ve known him for over 20 years and he`s never don`t any fab or frame work. What frame would be the easiest to swap in there? I was thinking a S-10 frame since it`s popular with similar year chevy trucks. Thanks guys.
I picked up a long bed and I'm planning an S10 swap. Only thing is I haven't even seen the truck yet, its at a friends in Iowa
My Brother is building a 47 International Panel After he Messed up his frame We found a Toyota 1 ton truck frame (Chassis) Has worked out great Disk brake front 5 on 4.5" just like ford We did 4 link in back and small block ford under hood with C4 Just need to wire and few small things It is ready for the road Good luck Ray
S-10 frames work really well with the late 30's- 40's Binders, i have a 1946 K-2 that i plan to put on a S-10 frame. I put a Cut down S-10 extened frame under my 1937 D-15 and it worked out really well, and fit really well.
Depending on what you want to do with it, I know of a couple that were mounted on a 1976-1980 Scout II Traveler frame. It's 118" WB, so depending on the bed in use, you may need to stretch it (in which case, a 71-80 100" WB Scout II frame works fine, too) or adjust. The Scout II was an IH product, and typically came with an IH V8 under the hood (304 or 345, with a 392 an easy swap from a bigger truck). 727 slushbox was popular with the 304/345, too.
"I picked up a long bed and I'm planning an S10 swap. Only thing is I haven't even seen the truck yet, its at a friends in Iowa " funny i have an international kb at a friends place in iowa...small world
I helped another fellow figure a Dakota frame swap for his KB and wrote it up on another forum. I'll link it here in case you're interested. http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Frame_Swap
Don't let the crusher guys know you are going to get another frame.. they'll be at your house in the morning!
