i've already posted this on the local craigslist but figured it won't hurt to throw it on here as well, my mom just crashed her 56 chevy after someone pulled out in front of her then sped off. happened about 9:10 pm on quail gardens drive close to the cross street of paseo de las verdes tonight monday 5/18. it's a small single lane road with a center devide, mom was heading down the road and there was a gray 4 door sedan newer maybe a toyota, honda etc stopped on the side of the road on which there is no shoulder just a bike lane, mom slowed down enough to get p***ed them but just as she was getting close they pulled out, moms only choice was to swerve and she hit the center devide, the gray sedan sped off.

this is a long shot but if anybody was driving that street or knows someone who might have been and could possibly have any info please contact me

i'm sure many of you have seen moms car around alot of the socal shows, it's always at the prowlers picnic, del mar goodguys, the streak, hell we've even taken it on the ranch run when we didn't have anything else. she's had the car about 20 years and bought it from our old next door neighbors who bought it in 62 and it never had any damage until now, she drives it just about daily and has put well over 100k miles on it. it will probably take a new 1/4 to fix it properly, but it will get fixed and she'll be back on the road soon enough.

Sux to see/hear that. Good luck finding the them, but without a direct hit you'll have a hard time placing them at fault.

long shot but we're hoping it was someone who lived on the street, someone p***ing by told mom that the car had been parked there about 10 minutes as they had just ran an errand and were coming back and saw it there when they were going down the street before. hopefully if we can get a little info we can at least find the person and see if they'll admit to being on that road around that time. i know that most likely it was someone who was uninsured or an illegal as there's accidents quite frequently on the road behind my house and we always get to hear the police dealing with them. we'll probably never know who it was or get any legal action even if we do find out but it's worth the try.

im not help on finding the culprit, but a good bodyman could fix that without much filler, seen much worse fixed with minimal filler.

Unless there is something I'm not seeing from your pics, that doesn't look like it needs a new 1/4. Good luck on the driver hunt.

it's a little worse than the pictures show, it is creased in all the way up to the window line and fairly wrinkly down low where the curb hit it, the upper crease is from a sign, the whole 1/4 is buckled and while it could be fixed without a 1/4 it will most likely be easier that way. 55-57 1/4's seem to get tweaked pretty easily, i've seen quite a few nice finished cars that you can tell had a light rear end impact at one time by the buckle in the 1/4. but i haven't given it a really good look yet and it may not seem as bad tommorow.

danny yes we are very thankfull she isn't hurt, she is a little pissed off though.

Hate to see any vintage iron get hit and basically had the same type of accident happen to the wife about 4 hours after a 15 month restoration she got hit in the rear and they also ran so I know the pain your mom is going through. The good part she is fine and the car can be fixed. I hope your lucky enough to get some ID on the sob that did it. We did and he got his *** thrown in jail and had insurance so we got fixed and are back on the road again.

I'm glad she was not injured in the incident, besides heart broken. This is a familiar story now days and I don't see it getting any better. Best wishes on getting the car and her heart repaired.

yup it ****s but it will be fixed and she'll be back to driving it very soon. after giving the damage a better look, it's kinda a toss up on doing the whole 1/4, the inner fender/wheelwell took a pretty good hit and is pushed in a couple inches and kinda mangled/ folded over, bent one of the body mounts, it would deffinetly be easier to fix that stuff with the 1/4 off but isn't really nesacary. we'll see what the insurance claim guys say and go from there.

thats bad news, but that dent doesnt look like the whole quarter needs to be replaced, just spend some time hammering it out.

Damn dude, atleast she was ok. That's good.
You should be able to fix that no problem though, hammer it out a little and skim it.

good thing she wasn't hurt and it's your mom so you want to kill someone but even if you find them you won't be able to do anything thats what you call a single vehicle accident unless they actually pushed her into the divider. if you do find them i bet you they don't even have the balls to say there sorry!
