I love that area. if I can ever escape from the clutches of the Bay Area that is where I am heading.

Many people don't realize the automobile industry was built on a preexisting culture of mechanical skill and innovation that developed in blacksmith shops, railroad shops and shipbuilding yards. Railroads in particular fired a widespread love of speed in our society that led to the development of ever faster automobiles and aircraft.

Check out the Model A powered Jenny Railcars at the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railway on Highway 41 near Yosemite National Park. Much as I love steam trains, the Jenny Railcars there are some of my favorite rides.

Besides my interest in building traditional hotrods, I'm president of a non-profit 501c3 corporation restoring an 1876 SP Depot as a historic living museum and learning center, and we are searching for a restorable steam locomotive to complete the project.

Been to Railtown 1897 several times, love the place, but haven't visited in a couple years now. Son did his fire training in Sonora and was up there several times to drop him off.

Static display. Thanks for any help in finding one.

Its a great place. Let's hope it survives all of this state money trouble.

And Kurt, I've seen cars shown there quite a few times. It seems to be the same groups that gather at the Junction on Wednesdays in the Summer months... but am not sure.
