For folks that haven't been to BTT50's you owe it to yourself to check it out. The local shows are great to see and easier to get around BUT the fairgrounds offer a great spot view 11,000 cars. If you live too far away- fly in for the event. There are plenty of hotels in the area- buses are running to and from the Mall of America-Light rail from the MOA to downtown Minneapolis. UPS is there to handle your shipping, maybe even find a car to drive home. Plenty of friendly car addicts of every type.
Ill be there! I dont know if my car will be ready though... I might just throw another pushrod in it and limp it up there. I think we should have a certian resturaunt to meet at or something.
In the past, the meet-n-greet has typically been on Sat. and at a variety of on-fairground locations (up by the Space Needle, Horse Barn, the lot behind the track). Trying to get more than a handful of people and then fit everyone in to a restaurant would be a nightmare.
will be there, trying to shake out the gremlins from the A build we just finished, should be first long trip. look forward to next year as soon as its over.
A meeting place and/or meet and greet sounds pretty good. A good spot that's not at ground zero but somewhat cental and easy to get too or find.
I was at last years meet & greet and one suggestion is down the street farther where the street dead ends there is the older horse barn and lots of room to park cars and there wasn't many people parking down there. If it's the same this year it would be easier than trying to cram all the HAMBer's cars in one small spot.
If I am thinking correctly, that is just down the street from the arena, which contains some of the auction cars for the Mecum auction? Kind of the SW corner of the main grounds, not too far from the campgrounds? Good spot, if I'm thinking right. got my registration today. just a bit shy of #10000
I got mine today, almost 9500. We are camping in the south campground. I think we are taking the rusty model a.
I don't know, I don't have any cooling on it, so I can't run it long. Also it is push start so it is kind of a pain in the ass. We could still hang, may be I can drool over the Willys all weekend.
It's kind of a dead end there. Pretty far from the maddening crowd. Not too busy. It'd be nice to see some faces to go with the screen names. I've met a few.
Back in the late 90's. I drove my 75 Vette to Back to the 50's.. and was in awe.I needed to get something I could enter the show with. Within 6 months I sold the Vette and started my 48 Stude truck build and have been there every year since. It does get pretty crowded but really, that makes it that much better > Later.
so it is a date, Meet and Greet at Noon on Saturday on the dead end street located just West of the Mecum Auction, right past the arena. See you there.
its a great idea to have a meet spot. especially one where some of us can park cars, so we can shake hands and see each others rides inperson, count me in!
I'm in 2!!! But, the only problem is, that I have car parts laying all over the shed floor! I only hope the f_cker starts thursday morning when I leave for regastration! See ya there!
not to be a fly in the ointment, but what about late day on Saturday, to avoid a conflict with those of us that like to attend the Mecum Auction?
Ill be there as always , been going since I was 6 or 7 only missed 4 since then because I was living out in WA at the time . The Pharaohs have been at every 50s since the begining we will never miss it . Come on by and say hi our spot is where the sky ride lets off at the east end and the space needle is across the street . Ill try to remember to come to the meet and greet depens on how much I have in me by that time ....I wont be driving my 48 to the meet and greet though if I give up my spot to earlly Ill never get back into our area . I always wait to cruise till later on at night 8 or so . Anyhow watch for a guy in a Black Pharaohs shirt walkin up .
