Well, I got the engine put back together and drove it home from my shop and so far so good. No funny engine noises, no knocking, just smooth driving. I hope it stays that way at least until after Santa Maria, if there is any problem then I'll have time to deal with it.
I love that a few LaSalles have been surfacing lately. Beautiful work. I think after SM I will have a lot of impiration to finish mine. B
I am speachless, that is stunning! I have been playing with the idea of shooting my car Brandywine, and you helped me decide. Obviously mine could never look that good, but I can deam can't I? But seriously Jonnhy, that is beyond words!
An absolutley stunning job you did on that car!! The only thing "I" don't like is the wheel covers...the car is way to classy for those plain spun covers...again "I" think it needs a nice set of stainless smoothy style desoto/lincoln/caddy wheel covers....but then it's not my car and I could only dream of having something that nice....
My god that is a pretty car. I love the exhaust treatment - its out there and subtle at the same time. Cool.
I agree, those wheel cover are only temporary. I'm trying to decide if I want to use Caddy sombreros or some thing else. I'm having a hard time deciding what to use, plus a lot of the nice hubcaps are 15" but this car has 16" wheels. Any suggestions are welcomed.
Personally I think the Caddy caps would look great. What about replacing the Cad center emblem with the 37 LaSalle emblem
I saw these 16" wheelcovers on Ebay recently. I have a set of these, but no where as nice. Mine are all scuffed up. Made by a fifties aftermarket company called Lyons. Very cool caps, even better with a bullet in the middle. Would look cool on the La Salle maybe?
Love the car! The only thing I think would make it cooler would be if the back end was a bit lower so it had more of a taildragger stance other than that WOW!!!
You hit a home run; perfect, as is. You might want to entertain the different set of caps just for variety. The guy who rebuilt your engine should be hung by his privates. Be sure you let him know!! (I suppose the original tranny is long gone??) Robb
I still have the original Caddy flathead engine, the LaSalle 3 speed top loader transmission and the original rear axle. The engine was rebuilt in 1997 snd only has 7000 miles on it.
How about the stock wheels painted body color & the stock caps Johnny? This one's a '34, but you get the idea
Well, I just got back from Johnny's shop to check her out in person....I wasked out the door, stopped dead in my tracks & just said...WOW... Pictures do this car NO justice.... Sounds good too....
I think it´s really unbelievable what amazing job Johnny did in such short period of time !!!!!! awesome craftmanship ! and he also got the taste........ok, the hubcaps.....but we solve that too ! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!!! ;-)
Looks fantastic.....and I especially like the sidepipes. Real nice work there. Is there anything that can be done about the rear licence plate? It's sticking out like a real estate board! Perhaps drop it below the rear pan?
Beautiful car. Love that paint! Here's a crummy Photoshop job showing it with sombreros caps.(I hope you don't mind...)
Nice burble coming out of those pipes. I was waiting to hear it give a little rap and then the video ended dammit! Can't wait to get on that plane. See you in SM.
Hey Johnny. Did you change or build up the front clip? Is that a Schraders Motor from LA(Cadillac 509). I am getting ready to drop mine in and just want to box up the front clip without replacing the whole clip. Thanks, Brian
