Engine Painting?? Painting over new paint.

I painted my engine block and after looking at it I have decided that I hate it. Can I just scuff it up and spray the new paint or should I strip the block again and start over?

 

What type of paint? I say spray over it. I suggest black.

 

What kind of paint did you use? Aerosol, acrylic enamel, BC/CC? And how long ago? It makes a difference!

 

The best way is to get most of it off. The thing that kills paint on engines, besides the burning close to the exhast manifold, is too much thickness. I wouldn't get too **** with it, just scuff off, or wire wheel it as best you can.

 

I used VHT engine enamel in a spray can. It was sprayed about 2 months ago.

 

I'd strip it as best you can, for the reasons that Chopolds mentioned.

 

I'm guessing I'll need to strip my paint off too, but...

The block was painted about 3 yrs ago and the engine only has about 50 miles on it. . I don't know what it was painted by previous owner. I am going to paint it with por 15 engine enamel.
