You should have put them in the dishwasher, then they would have come out sparkling clean :D

I'm not a big fan of bumper guards but those look great.

I never caught B***' post, I like it.

The size of yours goes perfect with the grille, do you have a shot showing more of the car with them on?

the ones that I did were inspired by Hegman's merc, and they are the second set we have done. This set is on Ron Gotch's 50. And like I said Myrideisme.com will have a whole how to as soon as he can.

This last set we sectioned less than the set on "The Legend's" Merc, as this one is not chopped, so the extra bulk looked a bit better.

GreggAz: Thanks for the kind words. The ones you did look "just right." When I first saw Terry Hegman's clean metal Merc in TRJ a few years ago I was hooked on the idea but then B***'s Tech post pushed the "can be done " ****on. A local metal magician (Adam) made it a reality. Here's the front of the car.

The way they match the scale of the grille teeth really makes them look integral to the car instead of added on. Nice work.

That looks sharp. I have saved every bit of B***' thread on how he did his (as well as everything he posts...lol) and thought of cutting them a bit further like Hegman's as well. Thanks for showing yours and inspiring me. My bumper needs rechromed anyhow, so maybe I can get the guards done and chromed at the same time. :)

These bumper guards.... which years are compatible? 1949-51 seems to be it, but I have not found out a definite. Are there any companies that repro these, or is it a hope to find kinda deal?

    Thanks fellas.

OEM 49-50 and 51 Merc bumpers will only fit the respective bumpers for years for which they were made. Nobody reproduces them. Suggest puting an add in HAMB cl***ified. Examine the photos in this link to see all the variations of Merc bumper guards including the black 1951 Merc with the tall front bumper guard with crossbar which was an accessory option bumper guard for 1951. http://www.pbase.com/xl1ken/ams5 When it comes to "deals", just being able to locate 49-51 Merc parts in good usable condition is a "good deal" since parts these 60+ year old parts just are getting harder to find. When you find what you want, "Don't snooze."

Hrv03, and 19Fordy, just to clarify, Yes the guards for the respective years will only fit the bumpers they came off STOCK.... this is about customs, and you can do whatever you want.

Go ahead and swap years, you just have to make them fit, and that is the point of what I did.

You do not even have to use Merc guards. If a car has guards you think would look good, cut em up and try them!

we sourced ours from Mercury Land, it was a h***le to get matching pairs, but they can try to help you.
