Just had word from Byron Stack of G***er Madness that G***er legend Chuck Finders p***ed away today, Waiting for more info. RIP Chuck, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdZnXYSCpmQ
WOW, that really is too bad. He built so many influential ch***is back in the day. His son Chuck Jr. is traveler2 on here, maybe when he is up to it he can fill us in. Godspeed, Chuck
I got to meet Chuck years ago.He seemed like any normal guy but the list of cars he was involved in is amazing.RIP Chuck
Amazing talent for making short wheelbase g***ers go straight...even fuel altereds...he once offered to rework the "Fantasia" Willlys fuel altered coupe for free, because it was so evil-handling that he was afraid it would kill its driver. It worked after he applied his g***er technology to it...that was the kind of guy he was. RIP
Chuck was one fine gentleman whom I had the pleasure speaking to many times who would offer his advise to me while I was in the building stages of my nostalgic drag car. Chuck certainly had his misfortunes in life whom many people may not be aware of, however; he was always a pleasure to meet. CF is one of the unsung heros of drag racing who was just a normal guy... Godspeed CF and all the best to his family, you will be missed.......
I heard the news today....sad for sure. I went out into the garage and sat where he once did, in the drivers seat of the Hart Automotive Willys and imagined he was now in a better place.
back in 67 Chuck made up long 4 links for myA the front attachment point was at the door hinges he also supplied the mounts for the front axle ...he gave me exact mounting points angles ride heights ect i installed them per his instructions[there was only 1 hole in each bracket & it worked right the 1st time as he said it would....the bars bent in 1997 will be putting them back to original sap
I met chuck going to Thompson the last several years. He was a great guy and built many neat cars through the years. i don't know if people really know how many cars he had a hand in building but i know there were many. G***ers were his specialty. I've been to his shop in Ohio and he was still building cars this year. He will be missed, and it's a pleasure to have run a car that he built.
Chuck died of an apparent heart attack & probably on Saturday, May 16th. His caregiver was the person who found him on Tuesday, May 19th. There will be a memorial service held for him on Sunday, June 7th at the NHRA Museum in Pomona at 2:00 PM.<O></O>
Lately this site has bought a lot of heart ache, some of the greatest have moved on to the big bench race in the sky, RIP Chuck. My condolences to his family. Doc.
