I mounted a 51 chevy truck on a 85 chevy frame, i know that i should of used an s10 frame but did not , so the frontend is to wire, is there any thing i can do to narrow it , i in stalled the tires on the most possitve off set rims i could.
Just twist the horizontal hold a tad, while you twiddle with the vertical knob. It should take you right back to where you started. Next time, read the instructions, and buy a tape measure. Or, you can always do what the guys with Camaro (and other GM) clips do when they put them under early Fords, etc.--- take the necessary distance (width) out of the center of your front end, weld back together and do the same for the rest of your steering apparatus. (A serious pain in the ***.) But it can be done. Perseverance furthers. And remember, gr***hopper, when you start out with a piece that you know won't fit, it won't fit, no matter how much you want it to.
You might have someone build a set of new shorter tube arms but all I can see is headaches with that setup from the get go.
step back. relize that was stupid. and cut that **** off. start over. because it will be cheaper in the long run to just put a camaro front clip on, or just get a s10. or you could always widen the truck, but thats more for stupid people. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=362341
Yeah there is a easy way to narrow it...put it back on the stock frame and throw that other in the s**** pile and if you really want ifs clip the stock frame. Maybe im stuck in my ways but with all the extra work that has to be done to make the body fit the full size chevy frames or an s-10 frame for that matter and getting the proportions correct why not save the headache and use a frame that was made for that truck?
