Mechanical idiot needs to tap the collective knowledge of the H.A.M.B.

  1. The car is actually in Brainerd at a friends garage since I have no space here in Minneapolis. I had to stay late at work, so I couldn't try any of the suggested things on the car last night. Hopefully I will be able to tonight. I did order a heavy-duty starter and have a new battery ready to go so I can work towards eliminating all possibilities of that being the problem!

  2. Read through the thread again, this has been answered by experienced guys. Its a little insaulting mate.

  3. Good news!!! After doing like some of you guys said and rigorously checking the entire electrical system and making DAMN SURE every ground and positive was solid, sanding and tightening every connection I could, and triple checking starter alignment, I hooked everything back up, hit the switch and it turned over!! Then I oiled 'er up and put some gas in the carb and it fired right off!! I am beyond ecstatic. It was like giving birth! Thanks for the guidance, folks!

Good deal, I've been working on cars 40+ years and it seems its always the little simple
things I overlook that cause the most headaches.
Change the oil and filter a couple times to get any crud that has built up from setting.

  5. Put in a couple of fuel filters quickly, and change any rubber fuel lines.
