I just picked this up a little over a week ago. You may've seen it in the cl***ifieds. I just received all of the patch panels for it and starting to weld tomorrow hopefully. Not looking to do anything special to it yet. Just want to get it street worthy. I'm itching to drive it! Needs a lot of work but hopefully I can get the basics done and get it on the road fairly shortly. Gotta make sure it's safe so my 2 year old can ride shotgun! We'll see... I'll keep ya posted.
Hey, Looks like a great truck to start out with! I've had my '54 for over 25 years, and some don't like these because the gl*** area and roof are so tall. These trucks are great if you're over six feet tall. The only vehicle I own that I don't have to duck to get into. They do look good if chopped well, also. S****ey Devils C.C. Great looking truck...you gotta check out this forum if you have not already...TONS of info to help you there. http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php Register and go to the "1948-1960 F1 and larger f series trucks" forum.
Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to asking a lot of questions and searching a lot of threads. Going to go join the F100 group...
Certainly cool alright, I hope to own one of these one day, almost bought a 54 van instead of my Victoria. Good luck with the build mate.
I started welding in my patch panels from EMS for the lower rear on the front fenders. ( I have a 51' ford) They didn't impress me with the panels. Hope you don't have the same problems. Have fun with yours.
You do know that if that two-tone paint is original, you have one of the rarest F-100's. Only a very few were two-tone.
Cool truck Ricky. I have a 54 F-100 that I am trying to get on the road. Hopefully that will be soon.
All my sheetmetal was purchased through F100Central.com. It's all Oval Industries brand I believe. Inner/Outer Cab corners, L/R rockers, L/R front cab corners, L/R floor pans, L/R triangle gussets. I just want to make sure the cab is all sealed up for now. Then get it running and drive it while I fix up the rest. I'm thinking a 460/C6 powerplant with a 9" 2.92 disc brake rear. All out of a 77 Lincoln. The front will be Gibbon crossmember and cordoba suspension. As for the two tone paint, I don't think it's original. The white looks like house paint and the black is just spray bomb. The inside of the cab is green although the dash is light blue and white 2 tone. I believe there's some yellow on the front fenders. Thanks for all of the positive comments guys. I appreciate it.
did some work on my 54 f100 today. i love these old trucks, tons of style, tons of possibilities. let me know how those patch panels work out, i still have to get inner and outer cab corners. take it easy.
