Rock guard on bumpers????? That will look like poop. Just paint them. Nothing special, paint and clear.

Your right, I painted a set of bumpers for O/T nova. It was a black car with black bumpers. Lookd dead, Put chrome bumpers on it. Came back alive.

Back in the day, they were called Kentucky bumpers and meant that the car had been cheaply prepared for sale and the seller was too cheap to rechrome.
They still look cheap and like a quick fix instaed of proper chrome.

Blast 'em with garnet on both sides, spray them with a good epoxy primer, then a good grade of fill and sand primer. Color base coat with a thick clear coat. Color sand and buff. Works good!!!

It's simple. Plastic bumpers (new junk) paint. Heavy metal bumpers (cl***ic car) chrome. Don't mix the styles!

No No No no. painted bumpers on cool cars. Chrome or rolled pans

Here is a shot of the 51 Merc that I had for 32 years. The gent who bought it did a fantastic job on the body an what not but is one of those "Modern Rodders". The only two things I don't like on the car after he got it done are the painted bumpers and the truck wheels and tires.

And it had a set of primo 57 Caddy caps with it when I sold it.
