Im looking for pics of PAINTED traditional cars and trucks trying to decide on a color for my Model A and would like to see some Trad paints Im going for a late 50s vibe. Lets see what you have.
I did not say that unpainted cars are not trad I'm just trying to get some paint ideas for my sedan want a color that would fit a late 50s vibe for my sedan, and I want to paint it.
Flake, Flake, Flake. House of Kolor, House of Kolor, House of Kolor. Paint it sparkley like a Nitro b*** boat! Don't look for the current trend. Be the next trend.
yngrodder-did you do a search here?-tons of pics-search for current pics from Santa Maria, etc. maybe post pics of cars you like to start with.
If you want it to look like the late 50's find paint chip books from that time period and pick a color. There were some beautiful colors back then.
In my fotki link below, there is a folder that has Model A ideas that I have been saving and thinking about for a traditional style unchopped sedan someday. I have just been saving a lot of pics that have something of interest (some are not even model a cars, but I liked the color, or the stance, or the tire/wheel selection). I would not be striving for any pic in particular, but there are a lot of ideas there that may be just what you are looking for (or ideas to avoid!) Check it out.
cool sedan! I typed "Hot Rod Magazine 1958" in a google search, and found this video--maybe it will provide some new ideas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DZZce8h0yg
Its a shame that people keep spreading that falsehood. Early model Ts came in colors as did late Model Ts and every year Ford after that
As someone said, get paint chips from the era. Show cars had the fancy flakes and pearls. Common cars had timely paint colors if you could afford a paint job, many ran 3 flat colors, red, grey and black primmer, never saw any other flat colors back in the 50s.
That is so cool to hear. I'm thinking something fairly dark and rich. Maybe like was suggested a couple shades darker than the wheels. But it looks like whatever you pic you have a winner there.
I once had a 2dr just like that, in 60 ( I think) I don't have a picture, but it was a light green, looked nice!
That's because, I'm willing to bet he doesn't waste a whole bunch of time in the forums and actually DRIVES his car. Just a guess.
Check the "Car Nut" site for TONS of pics. Listed by year and type of car. The David Featherston book " Hot Rods and Customs of the 50's" is a good source of period pictures too.
