A friend of mine has a '55 F100 with a stout 292 Y-block, 4bbl (3x2 sitting in bed), and some fancy heads. He doesn't know what kind of heads they are, so I'm trying to help him figure it out. I'm considering buying the truck if I can come up with the money. What are some commonly used or sought after cylinder heads for the 292 Y?? thanks
Try this site. Timmy has some good info on heads. I just completed an engine build using the 'G' heads. TC

As I recall, the better heads were from the 57-59 motors. There are some highly-sought-after heads that were used on 300 hp blower cars, but I don't think these were really any better than the other heads from those years.
if i remember right 9.1 compression...1.92 intake...i have some for sale if anyone wants some....bad valve guide on number 2....ill take 150 bucks for them ecg-z
The best heads are the ECZ-G and 5752-113 (casting numbers). Big ports and valves. Used on 57 to 59 cars (maybe trucks). Next best are the ECZ-C (1956)

[/ QUOTE ] The blower heads are hard to find and real pricey. Truck heads supposedly are the same, but with a different casting number so weren't legal for NHRA Stock cl*** (back in the day). And they're lower compression than the standard heads. So, if you're not running the blower, go with the ECZ-G heads. Best production head there is.
