Millermatic 211 Do you like yours?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 2many projects, May 23, 2009.

  1. I'm interested in purchasing a new welder and I've been eyeing a new Millermatic 211.
The Millermatic 212 is nice too but a little out of my price range.
I'm only an amateur and my skills are limited.
I'm wired for 230V in the garage so that's a big attraction for this machine, although with a change of the plug it will burn 115 also.
I've got 2 frames I'm welding and my old 25 year old Solar is barely able to do any thick gauge stuff.
Is the Miller a good choice for a crummy welder like me?

You can't go wrong with a Miller regardless of your experience.

I agree, you can't go wrong with a Miller. I learned on the 210 and really liked that one, haven't used the 211 so can't help you on that.

Miller good stuff my welder (I wouldn't own any other welder) and plasma is miller, although my plasma has had to be repaired twice in the 5 years or so of owning it.

I just bought the 211 a few months back and I'm very impressed. For such a tiny package it will weld up 3/8s mild steel all day. The auto set feature is too easy. Although I know how to manually set my amps and wire speed the auto-set has never failed me. I just finished a back half job with it and couldn't ask for better quality. I also tested the finer settings on a patch panel on a guys antique tractor hood. The soft start feature really stood out here. I paid $1,100 out the door for it. Including regulator.

No. I'm not a Miller rep. Just a retard with some free time and a strong trigger finger.

IMHO, I've used a 210 and own a 212. You can't go wrong with a Miller. ALL of my equipment is Miller, MIG, TIG and Plasma Cutter. I'll never own another Lincoln, ever!

Four years at a heavy sheet metal shop, all blue Millers that never skipped a beat.
A good friend has an "L" brand,I hate it.
    Miller makes an awesome machine.

  12. I just got a Miller 211 last week. I've only run it on 115v so far but it seems to work great. I haven't used a welder in 15+ years, so I took it to a friends who welds quite a bit with a 115v Lincoln to get his opinion. He said he liked it a lot too. We "popped the hoods" on both welders and looked at them side by side. Wow, the Miller was light years ahead in quality. My buddies Lincoln was half the price though - and it gets the job done.

I got mine on eBay, $950ish delievered. Also, Miller has a special going until July = free running gear (cart) with the purchase of a Miller 211. If you don't want the cart you have the option of a $75 rebate check. You could use that $75 to buy metal to make your own cart too.

  13. i have a 185 and LOVE it.........does frame just fine.

  14. Thank you everyone for the good advice provided me on the H.A.M.B., regarding my interest in purchasing a new Millermatic 211.
I ordered it 2 days ago from Indiana Oxygen, a place that was highly recommended by members of the message board.
It should arrive by mid week I'm told.
I'm very excited about honing my skills with a new welder.
My old Solar did well for a long time but I'm really looking forward to using this new Miller that everyone raves about.
Greg at Indiana Ox. was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful in leading me to something suited to my ability.
With all my curiosity and all the questions in my head, the H.A.M.B has never steered me wrong.

  15. A big thanks from me too. I'm looking to get a welder and Miller has been the one I've been looking at. sounds like the 211 is the way to go.
