I thought it would never happen to me but it looks like all the barn find stories I've been reading as of late have some truth to em. I was on a natural high this weekend cause I had Saturday free to attend the Santa Maria Nationals, but I was a little bummed out I had to return the same day to keep a promise to a lady in my Church.

I promised this would be the weekend I'd reroof her garage for her. The thing really needed to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up but she doesn't have that kind of cash flow so I figured I'd do the best I could for her.

Once the roof was torn off and the dry rot removed I could make out a couple of cars in the shadows. As any Rodder would do I had to inquire. So I ask "whats up with the cars in the garage?" She responds "I don't drive anymore you're free to take them both if you want them".

HOLY SMOKES!! You got to be kidding me!!! So to make a long story short she gave up a 69 Chrysler Imperial Lebaron which I didn't really care for, but I couldn't have been happier to take off her hands a virgin 36k mile fully freakin loaded 1961 Cadillac!

I guess it pays to be a man of my Word! Enjoy the pics.

I am envious of your garage find and that you are an honorable man. Good things do happen to good people. Nice find.

Way to go good man! Just for doing what everyone should do... You got the blessing. Great score! Someone that needs transportation could use the Chrysler... then another good deed can be done!

Good works are rewarded. As you do for others it will come back many times over. Just remember the House where you met the lady. Cleanup and tune the Imperial, put it on Craigslist and put the proceeds in the Plate.

Man I'm still stoked! My feet haven't touched the ground all weekend. I did give the Chrysler away. Had a friend lookin for a car for his son. The part thats funny to me is the lady thinks I'm a saint for not taking any money for the roof. I feel like I just robbed a Bank and got away with the mother load!

kinda looks the way mine did when i got her! had her about 5 years now and i love that car, and i'm sure you will too! never seen one with that divider moulding on the roof though, is the back half vinyl or just painted a different color? looks factory to me, can you tell if it is or not? great score and good luck with it!

Thats a factory vinyl on the back half. I asked about that as I never seen one with vinyl either. Apparently it was there when her husband brought the car home.

Sometimes you get more than you give. Very cool, and congratulations. The Imperial isn't the prettiest car, I agree, but they are great highway cruisers and full of great parts like what engine does it have?

Cool story...and the cars add to it! Pays to be honest and caring for your fellow "man" doesn't it?

    Just on a side note...
Those Chryslers are of a shape that I've always felt would make an amazing custom...even if they are of the wrong era. The clean look and that body m*** is there to make a very cool car IMHO.

Glad you p***ed it on to someone for building!
