Got a SW Wings speedo, MACS sent a cable which they were sure would fit but the cable and the speedo both have male ends! Is there a connection / adaptor available? Thanks for helping. Cable is for a 32 ford gearbox.
a SW wings gauge uses a 5/8-18 thread on the outer cable housing , and a female square on the inner cable. Mac's may have sent you a stock early Ford speedo cable that will not fit. if you want to connect the SW speedo to an old Ford speedo drive try Pioneer# CA3002 for a 63" long cable and # CA3004 for a 83" long cable..i'm not sure what you have over there, maybe it can be crossed
I had the local speedometer shop make one up for my early SW, 'could be wrong but I thought he said 5/8-20 male end on the cable? does it look like this? (tach)
Paul - thanks, my speedo has a male end too, I think I can get a spe******t in the UK to make one up. Thanks for helping.
I am pretty sure you have as suggested above an early Ford cable, and that you will get what you need by asking for an earlyish GM cable, meaning from before their conversion to a snap connector for the speedo end roughly 1967. Tellem you need one for a '63 Impala...that is my guesstimated solution. But really, thinking you can "fix" this is arrogant and patriarchal...you need to just accept that your cable and your speedo are Gay. It is not anything you did...
