I bought a 49 chevy truck I beam axle setup with 5 lug car drums on it to use on my 65 Ford Falcon that I am doing g***er style. I finally got around to measuring the hub to hub on the 49 axle setup and the rear 8" on my Falcon. It is not normally my luck but they are bot right at 58" Thought I would toss this out there incase anybody else is doing a 64/65 Falcon G***er and needs a axle setup. The leafs do NOT line up right under the rails though. It looks like they will be half under the rail and half inside the rail so I will have to make a plate coming off the inside of the rail to mount to. Should be easy enough. Then I will have to figure out the steering which should be fairly straight forward. Once I get the v8 swap on my wifes falcon completed I will start on my front end. I will take lots of pictures along the way. This thread mainly was to say it looks like I found a good match for a low cost front axle.
Please take pictures of what you are doing, very interesting because my Dad and I just got ahold of a similar axle and we are in a similar situation
