I don't know anything about A's in N. B. but around 1985 I went hunting with my Cousin between Amarillo and Dumas and there were about 30 1920's-30's cars along an elevated section of track right before it went over a riverbed. They all had huge rocks inside them, I was told at the time that the RR use to take junkers and use them for erosion control. We tried to get the rocks out of touring body that did not have the doors but back then it was just not worth the effort. The RR track was west of 287 but the cars were on the east side of the track and could not be seen from the road......Anybody in the Pan Handle know were I'm talking about?

Sounds like good hunting when me and the buddies go down to float in the middle of July. If there is no water I will just sit and a puddle and drink beer then :D I dont know if this is the same story but I heard of a wall of model t's and a's stuck in a creek bed and you cant get to them from the rattle snakes. Is this the same place?

That's almost right...it was actually guarded by chupacabras, not snakes.

They banned beer in New Braunfels...really...nothing to do here this summer, nothing to see but lots of cops and a dry river bed.

Oh, and all the bikini girls are in Vacation Bible School until August.

Next thing you know the word will be out about those large (32 Ford Coupe) size of granite rocks East of Burnet,Tx from the train wreck 60 years ago. I would love to see the Dodge Duly that hauls (one) them off !!!

Freestone county has quite a few track in it and I was looking on google maps just for fun, but haven't seen anything that looks like a pile of cars.

This was one of the only places I saw that looked like rusty junk on the side of the track, but it could just be brown trees... who knows.

    I also found this..

    http://dotlibrary1.specialcollection.net/scripts/ws.dll?websearch&site=dot_railroads

search function works pretty well but after looking through 20 pages of reports I got tired of looking. The report are very detailed and if there was a train full of cars I am pretty sure it would say so in the report.

I think at least a little more info is needed before someone spends a weekend searching freestone county..

the only other info i could tell you is that the guy says it happened in the early 30s..he says alot of cars are somewhat buried in the ground but alot of them are still out there..he said that his buddy was there the other day and he picked up a car he showed me and it was a pretty solid roadster body..and all he had was the bed of his truck to haul away or he would have gotten more..im in victoria, tx lately so im about 300 miles from dallas was hoping some of you guys knew anything of it..the guy i talked to is a pretty reliable source too i would say...

I'd go look, but the freestone county is pretty vague... Do you see this guy regularly? even a town or which track he goes on would help.

i dont really see him much its only when i see him by accident..but the roadster was a 30/31 so i would guess that narrows down to 1930/31 freestone county trainwrecks..ive been looking it up but cant find much...

Fact is that the cars along the tracks are probably those installed there for erosion protection from the 30s-40s-50s and now exposed so someone noticed.

GM train wreck circa 1967. Maybe there are some GTOs laying along the tracks somewhere in the snow belt...:D

There use to be a lot of cars off of 1044 just outside of New Braunfels. Any tracks close to that?
