Instead of the 250 I was going to run I found a recently rebuilt 292 that I couldn't p*** up. I am going to use it as is for now to get the Hillbillyborn injection(tm) sorted out. Because the 292 is taller than the 250 I had to make a new side cover. I also had to redo the p***enger side mount because it's set ahead of the other one. I made pipes to connect the headers to the exhaust and painted them black. I ran the exhaust and used flex couplers and gl***packs. It's getting close to firing off, just need to get the fuel system finished (pump , lines , regulator) and the wiring of the sensors and ecm. Maybe even before summer's over!
Cool to see the changes. But lose the POS Fram filter before you even prime the thing! Search here and you will find the horror that is Fram.
I was wondering when someone would fry me for that! The place I stopped at only had Fram, I'll use a Wix when I find one. I just wanted to seal all the openings before I fire it.
Gotcha, I figured it came with the engine and you would get to it My 250 is still in the doner truck, nice to keep updated on yours.
I love the exhaust! I agree about the Fram, just read a report on all kinds of filters, Fram not so good, I wont use them again. Take a look. http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters/index.html
I like it-that FI is BAD. And, since (I ***ume) you made that side plate, how about a finned spark plug wire cover like a Nailhead? (Then make one for my 250 please?)
Man that's nice, I bought a new van once with a 292 and loved that motor even stock, but your's rules!
Tuff! Great to see yet another guy spend so much time and effort on the cool but generally looked down apon inline-six configuration.
Thanks for the compliments guys!......I don't see the progress until I stand back. I'm really looking forward to lighting the candles on this one. I'll try a Youtube when it takes it'd first breath.
The injection system is all homemade, in fact I'm still inventing it. It's down to the fuel supply and electricals. I've been getting help from GMC Bubba (Great guy by the way!) He's been giving me advice about converting to EFI.
